Description
Beacher: A loyal sniffer ally that hunts down hostile mobs for you.
Mod Wiki
Beacher
Quickstart
- Get a Beacher Spawn Egg from your Creative inventory (search "Beacher") or find one naturally on sandy beach shores, where it wanders in small groups.
- Use the spawn egg on the ground to bring a Beacher into the world.
- Feed it Torchflower Seeds to tame its trust, heal it, and encourage breeding.
- Stand back and let it work — Beacher will automatically sniff out and attack nearby hostile mobs (monsters) for you.
- Leash it with a lead to bring it along, or let it roam and defend your camp.
Overview
Beacher is a friendly, sniffer-like companion mob that lives on beaches and actively hunts down hostile creatures on your behalf. Unlike a normal passive sniffer, this one is a capable fighter — think of it as a big, loyal guard dog that digs and sniffs around while also charging into nearby monsters.
What It Adds
- Beacher — a large, tame-friendly creature resembling a sniffer, found along beach biomes (including cold beaches).
- Beacher Spawn Egg — lets you place a Beacher anywhere in Creative Mode.
- Beach-themed spawning behavior, breeding, aging, and combat AI focused on protecting players from hostile mobs.
How To Use
- Spawning naturally: Beacher spawns on the surface of beach biomes in small herds (1–2 on warm beaches, solo on cold beaches), typically in daylight or well-lit conditions.
- Spawning with the egg: Use the Beacher Spawn Egg on any block to summon one directly.
- Feeding: Torchflower Seeds are the key item for this mob — they heal it, entice it to follow you (temptation behavior), and are used to breed two adults together.
- Leashing: Beacher can be leashed like other passive mobs, including special leash behavior when paired with a Happy Ghast.
- Naming: You can rename a Beacher using a name tag.
- Interacting: Right-click/interact with a Beacher to engage with it directly (feeding, leashing, etc.).
Abilities And Mechanics
- Hostile mob hunter: Beacher actively seeks out and attacks nearby monsters within a fairly long detection range, chasing and melee-attacking them until they're defeated.
- Sturdy fighter: With 50 health and a solid melee attack, Beacher can take on tougher hostile mobs and survive extended fights.
- Sniffer-like behavior: Retains classic sniffer animations and actions — sniffing, digging, searching, standing up, and showing happiness — giving it a lot of personality while it patrols.
- Panic and self-preservation: Beacher flees and panics when hurt or endangered (such as being near lava, which damages it over time), and can swim, float, and climb to navigate terrain.
- Breeding and growth: Two adult Beachers fed Torchflower Seeds can breed, producing a baby that grows into an adult over time. Feeding babies Torchflower Seeds speeds up their growth.
- Rewards: Breeding and defeating hostile mobs near a Beacher can grant the player experience.
Progression And Strategy
- Keep a small herd of Beachers near your base or farm as passive guardians — their long detection range and aggressive targeting of monsters make them effective at clearing out nighttime threats.
- Breed multiple Beachers using Torchflower Seeds to build up a defensive "pack" over time.
- Leash a Beacher to escort it between locations, or let it roam a beach area to keep it clear of hostile spawns.
- When defeated, Beacher drops useful loot such as moss blocks, bones, rotten flesh, and occasionally torchflower seeds or emeralds — so it's still valuable even if lost in the wild.
- Avoid leading your Beacher near lava, as it will take continuous damage there.
