Awakened Blue Flame Katana

Quickstart

1. Craft a Base Katana, a Frenzied Flame, and then the dormant blade at a crafting table.
2. Hold the Blue Flame Katana (Dormant) and use it. Choose Envy or Lust in the route-selection menu.
3. Keep the chosen katana in your selected hotbar slot and defeat enemies with it. The blade awakens after 30 kills.
4. Tap sneak/crouch while holding the katana to switch between Sheathed and Unsheathed stance.
5. In Unsheathed stance, land eight hits within roughly two seconds of one another to trigger Azure Judgment.
6. Watch the action bar for your route, stance, heat, combo, and awakening progress.

Overview

Awakened Blue Flame Katana is a combat and progression mod centered on a legendary katana with two permanent paths:

• Envy favors speed, attack power, and aggressive combos, but weakens its wielder.
• Lust provides healing, fire protection, and stronger attacks, but slows the wielder and increases hunger.

Both routes build heat during combat. High heat makes the katana more dangerous to use, so switch to Sheathed stance to cool the blade more quickly.

What It Adds

All katana forms are single-stack swords and can be enchanted as swords. Existing enchantments are retained when the blade changes route or awakens.

Crafting And Obtaining

Base Katana

Craft the intermediate sword at a crafting table.

Frenzied Flame

The Frenzied Flame requires rare Nether materials.

Only one Frenzied Flame can be crafted in a world. The limit persists through reloads and restarts, and moving the original Frenzied Flame between inventory slots does not create another one.

Blue Flame Katana (Dormant)

Combine the Base Katana, Frenzied Flame, and the required diamond, Nether, and weapon materials.

The dormant katana must be used before its combat route is active.

How To Use

Choose a Route

Hold the Blue Flame Katana (Dormant) and use it to open the route-selection menu.

• Select Envy for speed and offensive pressure.
• Select Lust for healing, fire resistance, and stronger support effects.

The blade binds itself to the player who chooses the route. The choice cannot be changed during that wielder's life.

A katana transferred to a different player resets to its dormant state. Dying also resets the carried katana's route, kills, heat, combo, stance, and awakening progress.

Change Stance

While holding the katana, tap sneak/crouch to toggle between:

• Sheathed — slower heat buildup, faster cooling, and a powerful quick-draw strike.
• Unsheathed — faster heat buildup and access to the combo finisher.

The current stance is shown in the action bar.

Read the Katana HUD

When the selected hotbar slot contains a katana, the action bar displays:

• Current route
• Sheathed or Unsheathed stance
• Heat tier and numerical heat
• Current combo
• Awakening progress, or AWAKENED after transformation

Abilities And Mechanics

Sheathed Quick-Draw

A hit in Sheathed stance:

• Deals an additional 3 damage.
• Adds 4 heat.
• Resets the current combo.

This is useful for controlled strikes and for avoiding rapid heat buildup.

Unsheathed Combos

A hit in Unsheathed stance:

• Adds 10 heat.
• Advances the combo if the next hit lands within 40 ticks, or about two seconds.
• Resets the combo when the timing window expires.

The eighth successful hit triggers Azure Judgment, resets the combo to zero, and consumes 30 heat.

Azure Judgment

Azure Judgment strikes enemies around the target hit by the finishing blow. It:

• Deals route- and awakening-dependent fire damage.
• Sets affected enemies on fire for four seconds.
• Knocks affected enemies backward.
• Applies additional route-specific effects.

The finisher does not damage its wielder.

Heat And Overheating

Heat ranges from 0 to 100:

At Danger, the wielder takes 1 damage periodically. At Critical, the wielder takes 3 damage periodically.

Heat cools while the katana is selected:

• Sheathed: loses 5 heat every half-second.
• Unsheathed: loses 1 heat every half-second.

Use Sheathed stance between fights or after a finisher to recover from high heat more quickly.

Route Passives

Route effects remain active while the bound wielder has the route katana selected.

Envy

Envy grants:

• Speed II
• Strength I
• Haste I

Its drawback is Weakness I, making the route fast and forceful but less forgiving when taking damage or fighting at high heat.

Lust

Lust grants:

• Strength II
• Fire Resistance
• Regeneration I

Its drawbacks are:

• Slowness I
• Hunger

Lust is suited to sustained fights, Nether exploration, and situations where healing and fire protection are valuable.

Progression And Strategy

Awaken the Blade

After choosing Envy or Lust, defeat 30 enemies with the route katana. The blade automatically transforms into its awakened route form when the threshold is reached.

Awakening provides:

• Increased attack damage
• Increased durability
• A stronger Azure Judgment
• A larger finisher radius
• Improved route-specific finisher effects
• A new awakened appearance

Choosing Between Envy And Lust

Choose Envy if you prefer:

• Fast movement
• Haste and aggressive combat
• Larger damage output from Azure Judgment
• Poison and heavy slowing against groups

Choose Lust if you prefer:

• Extra durability in prolonged fights
• Regeneration and fire resistance
• Stronger sustained attacks
• Recovering health through Azure Judgment

Managing Combat Safely

• Use Sheathed stance for a quick-draw attack when you cannot maintain a combo.
• Switch to Sheathed stance after a fight to reduce heat quickly.
• Avoid staying at Critical heat, especially with Envy's Weakness and the added self-damage.
• Build an Unsheathed combo against weaker enemies, then use the eighth hit to finish a stronger target or clear nearby enemies.
• Keep the katana selected when you need its route effects, but switch away from it when you want the passive effects and heat system to stop applying.
• Repair the dormant blade with Nether Stars or Blaze Rods. Awakened route forms accept Nether Stars and Blaze Rods for repair, with Nether Stars providing the greatest repair amount.
