Description
Mine uranium and plutonium, build missile silos, then survive massive radioactive craters.
Mod Wiki
Atomic Earthshaker
Quickstart
- Obtain Uranium and Plutonium by mining their ore blocks with a pickaxe, or take them from the Creative inventory.
- Craft a Nuclear Bomb at a crafting table.
- Craft a Missile Launcher and optionally a Missile Silo.
- Place the silo where you want the missile to detonate.
- Carry a Nuclear Bomb in your inventory and equip the Missile Launcher.
- Use the launcher:
- Use it normally to target a point 32 blocks in the direction you are looking.
- Use it on a Missile Silo to target the space directly above the silo.
- A five-second countdown begins. Move away before detonation.
- Stay at least 40 blocks from the resulting crater to avoid its radioactive poison effect.
Overview
Atomic Earthshaker adds a small nuclear-weapons gameplay loop to Minecraft:
- Mine Uranium Ore and Plutonium Ore.
- Combine the resources with TNT to make Nuclear Bombs.
- Build Missile Silos as launch targets.
- Use a Missile Launcher to trigger explosions.
- Survive the large crater and its persistent radiation zone.
What It Adds
| Content | Use |
|---|---|
| Uranium Ore | Ore block that drops Uranium when mined |
| Plutonium Ore | Ore block that drops Plutonium when mined |
| Uranium | Nuclear crafting material |
| Plutonium | Nuclear crafting material |
| Nuclear Bomb | Ammunition consumed by the Missile Launcher |
| Missile Launcher | Starts a launch countdown and detonates a bomb |
| Missile Silo | Placeable block that can be targeted by the launcher |
Uranium and Plutonium stack up to 64. Nuclear Bombs stack up to 16. The Missile Launcher does not stack.
How To Use
Preparing a launch
Carry at least one Nuclear Bomb anywhere in your inventory and equip the Missile Launcher. You do not need to place the bomb inside the silo or launcher.
The bomb is consumed as soon as the launch sequence starts. If you do not have a bomb, using the launcher displays a message telling you to load one.
Free-aim launch
Use the Missile Launcher normally while looking toward the desired target. The launcher selects a point 32 blocks along your view direction.
The target is fixed when you activate the launcher, so moving afterward does not redirect the explosion.
Silo launch
Place a Missile Silo, then use the Missile Launcher on it. The missile targets the center of the block immediately above the silo.
A silo is not required for a free-aim launch; it provides a clear, fixed target for planned strikes.
Countdown and detonation
Once armed:
- The launcher announces that the launch sequence has started.
- A five-second countdown appears on the action bar.
- The bomb detonates at the selected target.
- The explosion breaks blocks and causes fire.
The launcher has an eight-second cooldown per player. Trying to launch again during this period displays a cooling-down message.
Crafting And Obtaining
Nuclear Bomb
Craft a Nuclear Bomb with TNT, Uranium, and Plutonium.

Missile Launcher
Craft a Missile Launcher with iron, Redstone, a Stone Button, Uranium, and Plutonium.

Missile Silo
Craft a Missile Silo from Iron Blocks and Iron Trapdoors.

Nuclear materials
Mine Uranium Ore and Plutonium Ore with a pickaxe. Each ore block drops its matching refined material:
- Uranium Ore → Uranium
- Plutonium Ore → Plutonium
Both materials are also available in the Creative inventory.
Abilities And Mechanics
Explosion
Each detonation creates an explosion with a radius of 20 blocks. It breaks blocks and can start fires, so launch from an area you are prepared to lose.
The explosion occurs five seconds after activation. The launcher user must still be present when the countdown reaches zero for the detonation to occur.
Radiation zones
Every detonation leaves a radioactive crater zone centered on the target. The radiation reaches 40 blocks from the crater site in the same dimension.
Players inside the zone:
- Receive the Poison effect.
- See radiation particles.
- Get a
☢ RADIATION — leave the crater zone!warning on the action bar.
Radiation is checked every second and the Poison effect is repeatedly reapplied while you remain in range. Leave the area to stop receiving new applications; the existing effect can last for several seconds afterward.
Crater locations are remembered when the world is reopened. Up to 64 crater sites are tracked at once; once that limit is exceeded, the oldest tracked site stops producing radiation.
Progression And Strategy
- Gather both nuclear materials before crafting your bomb; a launch consumes one immediately.
- Build silos away from homes, farms, storage, and other important structures.
- Mark safe distances before launching. The explosion radius is 20 blocks, but the radiation zone extends twice as far.
- Use free-aim launches for remote targets and silos for repeatable strike locations.
- Keep an escape route ready during the five-second countdown.
- Avoid returning to a crater for four seconds after leaving unless you are prepared for lingering Poison.
- Multiple crater zones can overlap, making large areas dangerous.
