Artifacts Of The Ages
Quickstart
- In Creative mode, search for the artifact names in the inventory. In Survival, begin by crafting Compressed Wood from oak logs.
- Craft the artifacts and steel armor from the recipes below. The steel pieces can be equipped in the normal armor slots.
- Try the artifacts with these controls:
- Prehistoric Club: Crouch and use it while looking at a player within 25 blocks.
- Flint Catalyst: Use it on a living entity.
- Pirate Cannon: Use it to fire an ender pearl.
- Longbow of Vanguard: Hold Use to draw, then release. Carry arrows unless you are in Creative mode.
- Steam Harpoon: Look at a player or solid block within 15 blocks and use it.
- Lightsaber: Hold Use briefly and release to throw the blade.
- Equip the Steel Chestplate, empty both hands, and crouch to open the Steel Tracker. Select an online player to begin receiving their coordinates.
Every artifact except Compressed Wood is limited to one copy among player inventories and dropped items. Artifact items do not lose durability.

How To Use
Prehistoric Club
Crouch while using the club and look directly at another player within 25 blocks. A successful strike gives the target extremely strong Slowness for 3 seconds.
The club has a 45-second cooldown. If no player is in your sights, the ability does not activate.
Flint Catalyst
Use the catalyst on a living entity to apply Wither III for 5 seconds. Soul-fire and enchantment particles mark the cursed target.
The catalyst has a 30-second cooldown and works on living entities, including players and mobs.
Pirate Cannon
Use the cannon while aiming in the desired direction. It launches an ender pearl from your position, allowing you to teleport when the pearl lands.
The cannon requires no ammunition and has a 50-second cooldown.
Longbow of Vanguard
Hold Use to draw the bow and release to fire a Vanguard Arrow.
- Carry at least one normal arrow in your inventory.
- Creative players can fire without arrows.
- One normal arrow is consumed per shot outside Creative mode.
- The arrow deals 4 damage and applies Poison I for 3 seconds.
- The bow has no special cooldown.
Steam Harpoon
Aim at a player or a solid block within 15 blocks and use the harpoon. The harpoon pulls you toward the selected target and gives you a short upward boost.
The harpoon has a 30-second cooldown. If neither a player nor a solid block is within range, it does not fire.
Lightsaber
Hold Use briefly and release to throw the lightsaber. The projectile travels forward, disappears when it hits something, and vanishes after roughly 5 seconds if it does not hit.
A successful hit:
- Deals 12 damage to a living target.
- Applies Glowing for 2 seconds.
- Produces a visible burst of particles.
The lightsaber has a 45-second cooldown and requires no ammunition.
Steel Armor Abilities
Steel armor uses the same protection and durability values as Netherite armor, but it cannot break.
Steel Boots
While equipped, the boots:
- Grant Speed II.
- Prevent fall damage by continually resetting your fall distance.
Steel Leggings
Steel Leggings do not grant Invisibility by themselves. If you already have an Invisibility effect, they continually refresh it while equipped, allowing the effect to remain active.
Steel Chestplate
While equipped, the chestplate grants Strength I.
It also enables the Steel Tracker:
- Empty your main hand and offhand.
- Crouch while wearing the chestplate.
- Select a player from the list that appears.
- Coordinate updates for that player appear about once per second.
The tracker can select online players within 1,000 blocks. Attempting to track a player farther away fails and applies a 15-minute cooldown to the chestplate.
You can also use the command /artifacts_track <player> to select an online player directly.
Steel Helmet
The helmet provides two special effects:
- Any item placed in your offhand is returned to your inventory, so shields, totems, and other offhand items cannot be used while the helmet is equipped.
- When you attack the same player repeatedly, the helmet records a hit combo. On the fifth consecutive hit against that player, one random nonempty inventory stack is removed from the target. Changing targets resets the combo.
The target’s Steel Helmet is not removed by this effect.
Artifact Uniqueness
The mod enforces a one-copy rule for each of these items:
- Prehistoric Club
- Flint Catalyst
- Pirate Cannon
- Longbow of Vanguard
- Steam Harpoon
- Steel Boots
- Steel Leggings
- Steel Chestplate
- Steel Helmet
- Lightsaber
Extra copies in player inventories are removed, and duplicate dropped items disappear. Compressed Wood is not unique and can be crafted repeatedly.
This makes the artifacts valuable contested equipment on multiplayer servers. Protect the player carrying each artifact, and be prepared to fight for the abilities you need.
Crafting And Obtaining
Compressed Wood
Craft Compressed Wood from oak logs. It is the basic material for several artifacts and can be produced as often as needed.

Prehistoric Club

Flint Catalyst

Pirate Cannon

Longbow of Vanguard

Steam Harpoon

Lightsaber

Steel Boots

Steel Chestplate

Steel Helmet

Steel Leggings

Progression And Strategy
- Craft Compressed Wood early so you can work toward several artifact recipes.
- Steel Boots are a strong first armor target for exploration because they combine Speed II with fall protection.
- Use the Steel Chestplate to maintain Strength I and locate nearby rivals.
- The Steel Helmet is strongest in close combat, but it also prevents all offhand equipment. Plan your inventory around fighting without a shield or totem.
- Use the Longbow of Vanguard to poison enemies before closing in.
- Save the Prehistoric Club and Flint Catalyst for engagements where their long cooldowns matter.
- The Steam Harpoon is useful for climbing, escaping, crossing gaps, or forcing a fight around terrain.
- The Pirate Cannon and Lightsaber both offer powerful ranged mobility or damage, but their long cooldowns make missed shots costly.
- Since most artifacts are unique, avoid throwing them into dangerous areas unless you are ready to recover them.
