Amethyst Veinbreaker
Quickstart
Craft the glowing purple Amethyst Veinbreaker with amethyst shards and sticks, then hold it and mine a block normally. It breaks up to nine additional face-connected blocks of the same type, so try it on a cluster of ore or stone. No extra button or interaction is needed.
Overview
The Amethyst Veinbreaker is a mining tool with a glowing enchantment effect. When you mine a block with it, it searches out nearby blocks of the same type that connect by their faces—not diagonally—and breaks up to nine of them.
It mines quickly through many stone types and ores. Deepslate, cobbled deepslate, ancient debris, obsidian, and crying obsidian are included at a lower mining speed.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Veinbreaker at a crafting table. The recipe uses three amethyst shards across the top and two sticks beneath them.
You can also craft Amethyst armor by surrounding a netherite armor piece with amethyst shards in the crafting table:

How To Use
Hold the Veinbreaker and mine a block as usual. It checks the six blocks touching the one you mined, then follows matching blocks connected to those. This works on matching block types generally, not only ore veins.

The armor can be enchanted and repaired with amethyst shards.
Crystal Critters
Crystal Critters can spawn in daylight on the surface in a range of biomes, including taigas, deserts, snowy areas, flower forests, groves, meadows, and cherry groves. Look for them in small groups.
They can be tempted and bred with carrots, golden carrots, or dandelions. They are skittish around players, wolves, and hostile monsters, and can be led with a leash. A Crystal Critter Spawn Egg is also available.
