Alcer Sniffer

Quickstart

1. Find Alcer on the surface of the Overworld in a well-lit area, or use the Alcer Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory.
2. In commands, summon one with:

   /summon com_alcer_sniffer_v5fyaqch:mysniffer
   

3. Hold Torchflower Seeds and interact with Alcer to attract, heal, feed, or breed it.
4. Keep an adult Alcer in an open area with natural ground nearby. After sniffing, it may search and dig for a seed item.
5. Watch its digging animation and collect the item that appears nearby.

Overview

Alcer is a sturdy, sniffer-like creature with a distinctive appearance and gentle wandering behavior. It can be found naturally in the Overworld, raised from a baby, bred with another adult Alcer, and encouraged to search through natural ground for seeds.

Alcer has 30 health, equal to 15 hearts. It is persistent, so it remains in the world instead of disappearing simply because players move away.

How To Use

Finding and Spawning Alcer

Alcer naturally spawns on the surface of the Overworld, usually in groups of one or two. It prefers bright areas with a light level from 9 to 15.

For immediate testing, search the Creative inventory for Alcer Spawn Egg and use it on the ground. You can also summon it directly:

/summon com_alcer_sniffer_v5fyaqch:mysniffer

Feeding and Attracting

Hold Torchflower Seeds while near Alcer. It will be attracted to the seeds and follow the holder.

Interacting with Torchflower Seeds can also heal Alcer by 2 health, or one heart, per feeding.

Naming and Keeping Alcer

Alcer can be named with a Name Tag. It wanders, looks around, and reacts to danger by panicking and moving faster.

Alcer can float and climb, but it generally avoids water. Keep it in a spacious enclosure with solid ground if you want to observe its digging behavior.

Abilities And Mechanics

Sniffing and Digging

Adult Alcers periodically enter a sniffing phase. After successfully scenting an area, they search for suitable ground within roughly 20 blocks horizontally and 3 blocks vertically.

Alcer can search and dig blocks including:

• Dirt
• Coarse Dirt
• Grass Blocks
• Podzol
• Dirt With Roots
• Moss Blocks
• Pale Moss Blocks
• Mud
• Muddy Mangrove Roots

The digging process takes about 8–10 seconds. The discovered item appears nearby during the digging sequence, usually after approximately six seconds. Babies do not perform this search-and-dig behavior.

An Alcer may become briefly immovable while digging. Give it room and avoid pushing it during the search.

Growth

Alcer can spawn as either an adult or a baby. Babies are much smaller and grow into adults over time. Feeding Torchflower Seeds helps care for them and supports their growth.

Breeding

Feed Torchflower Seeds to two adult Alcers. They do not need to be tamed to breed.

After breeding, one Alcer becomes pregnant and produces a Sniffer Egg item. Use the resulting egg according to the normal Minecraft sniffer-egg mechanics.

Safety

Alcer does not have an attack behavior, but it panics when hurt or threatened. It avoids dangerous blocks and takes 4 damage per tick while in lava, so keep it away from lava and other hazards.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no crafting recipes for Alcer.

You can obtain Alcer by:

• Finding it naturally on the surface of the Overworld.
• Using the Alcer Spawn Egg in Creative mode.
• Summoning it with:

  /summon com_alcer_sniffer_v5fyaqch:mysniffer
  

• Breeding two adult Alcers with Torchflower Seeds.

Drops

When Alcer dies, it drops:

• 1–2 Moss Blocks
• Torchflower Seeds at a 10% base chance when killed by a player
• 1–3 experience when killed by a player

Looting can slightly improve the Torchflower Seed drop chance. Breeding Alcers can also provide experience.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with Torchflower Seeds so you can attract, heal, and breed Alcer.
• Build a broad enclosure containing dirt, grass, moss, or another valid digging block.
• Keep the enclosure well lit if you want to encourage natural spawning nearby.
• Watch for sniffing and searching behavior rather than trying to force Alcer to dig immediately.
• Breed adults to create more Alcers and obtain Sniffer Eggs.
• Protect Alcer from lava and give digging adults enough space to complete their search.
