Mod Wiki

Abyssal Blaster Strider

Quickstart

  1. In Creative mode, search for Abyssal Blaster Strider Spawn Egg and use it to spawn one.
  2. Keep your distance: the strider is hostile and can detect players within 32 blocks.
  3. Watch for its ranged attack. It launches Minecraft fireballs in bursts of three.
  4. To try it as a mount, use a saddle on an unsaddled strider, then interact with it again to ride.
  5. While mounted, hold a Warped Fungus on a Stick to steer. Use the item’s boost action for a temporary speed increase.
  6. To summon one with commands, use /summon com_abyssal_blaster_strider_if6epe6e:mystrider with cheats enabled.

Overview

Abyssal Blaster Striders are mutated, hostile Striders that patrol the Nether and attack players with fireballs. They are durable lava-walking mobs that can also be saddled and ridden.

They have:

  • 60 health
  • 10 melee attack damage
  • Fire immunity
  • Lava walking and swimming
  • A single rider seat when saddled
  • Ranged fireball attacks
  • Adult and baby variants
  • Breeding with Warped Fungus

What It Adds

Abyssal Blaster Strider

The Abyssal Blaster Strider combines the mobility of a Strider with aggressive combat abilities:

  • Targets players from up to 32 blocks away.
  • Fires from roughly 5 to 24 blocks.
  • Shoots three fireballs in a burst.
  • Uses melee attacks when fighting at close range.
  • Moves naturally across lava and seeks nearby lava.
  • Can be named, leashed, saddled, and ridden.

Variants and Jockeys

Natural spawns can include:

  • Adult Abyssal Blaster Striders
  • Baby Abyssal Blaster Striders
  • An adult carrying a baby Abyssal Blaster Strider
  • An adult carrying a zombified piglin

Babies are smaller but retain the Abyssal Blaster Strider’s hostile combat behavior.

How To Use

Finding One

Abyssal Blaster Striders naturally spawn on lava in Nether biomes on Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty. They can appear in groups of one or two, including baby and jockey combinations.

Natural spawning works at any light level.

Fighting One

Keep cover nearby when approaching. The strider can acquire players through walls or other obstructions within its detection range, and its fireball attack is most dangerous in open areas.

Recommended tactics:

  • Fight from outside its 24-block ranged attack distance when possible.
  • Use solid blocks to avoid fireballs.
  • Do not rely on fire or lava damage; the strider is fire immune.
  • Avoid water, which damages it over time but may also complicate the fight.
  • Be prepared for melee attacks if you move within close range.

Saddling and Riding

An unsaddled Abyssal Blaster Strider accepts a regular saddle:

  1. Hold a saddle.
  2. Interact with the unsaddled strider.
  3. Interact with it again to mount.
  4. Hold a Warped Fungus on a Stick to control its movement.

Only one player can ride at a time. Do not crouch while attempting to mount, because crouching skips the riding interaction.

The Warped Fungus on a Stick can also boost the strider. Boosting consumes durability from the item, and a depleted item is replaced by a fishing rod.

Removing the Saddle

To remove a saddle:

  1. Make sure the strider has no rider.
  2. Hold shears.
  3. Interact without sneaking.

The shears lose one durability during the interaction, and the saddle is removed.

Lava and Water

Abyssal Blaster Striders are built for the Nether:

  • They can walk across lava.
  • They move faster through lava than on land.
  • They are immune to fire.
  • Water damages them over time.
  • They avoid water and may begin to suffer outside their normal lava environment.

Crafting And Obtaining

There is no custom crafting recipe for the Abyssal Blaster Strider.

You can obtain one by:

  • Using the Abyssal Blaster Strider Spawn Egg in Creative mode.
  • Finding one naturally on Nether lava.
  • Summoning one with /summon com_abyssal_blaster_strider_if6epe6e:mystrider.
  • Breeding two adult Abyssal Blaster Striders with Warped Fungus.

Abilities And Mechanics

Combat

The strider’s fireball attack:

  • Has a range of approximately 5–24 blocks.
  • Fires in three-shot bursts.
  • Uses Minecraft fireballs.
  • Deals magical projectile damage.

At close range, it attacks with melee damage instead.

Breeding

Adult Abyssal Blaster Striders can breed with Warped Fungus. Feed Warped Fungus to two adults to produce a baby.

Warped Fungus can also be used to tempt them, including while they are being ridden. Feed a baby Warped Fungus to help it grow.

Drops

An adult Abyssal Blaster Strider can drop:

DropAmount and conditions
String2–5
Magma Cream1–2, with a chance to drop
Warped Fungus0–1
Crying Obsidian1, only when killed by a player and after a rare chance

Looting can increase the string and magma cream drops and gives a small bonus to the Crying Obsidian chance.

A player-killed adult also provides 1–3 experience. Breeding provides 1–7 experience.

Progression And Strategy

Use the spawn egg first in a controlled Nether arena to learn the strider’s fireball timing. Once you are comfortable fighting it, try capturing an adult with a saddle and a Warped Fungus on a Stick.

For Nether travel, keep the mount over lava and carry spare Warped Fungus on a Stick for steering and boosting. Avoid bringing it near water, and remember that saddling it does not make its blaster attacks harmless.
