Zoom Mod
Quickstart
- Install the mod (client-side only — no server required).
- Join any world or server.
- Hold C to activate zoom. While holding C, scroll up to zoom in and scroll down to zoom out.
- Release C to return to your normal field of view.
That's all there is to it — no items to craft, no blocks to place.
Overview
Zoom Mod gives you a smooth, adjustable zoom by narrowing your field of view on demand. It's purely client-side, so it works on any server without any mods installed there. The zoom level you dial in persists for the rest of your play session until you change it again.
How To Use
Activating Zoom
Hold the C key. While the key is held, your field of view shrinks according to the current zoom multiplier, letting you see distant terrain, mobs, builds, or targets more clearly.
Adjusting Zoom Level
While holding C, scroll the mouse wheel:
| Scroll direction | Effect |
|---|
| Scroll up | Zoom in (higher multiplier) |
| Scroll down | Zoom out (lower multiplier) |
Scroll input is fully consumed while zooming, so your hotbar selection will not change while you adjust the zoom level.
Zoom Range
The multiplier is clamped between 1.25× (subtle zoom) and 16× (maximum zoom). Each scroll step scales the multiplier by roughly 20%, so you can step through a wide range of magnifications smoothly.
On-Screen Readout
Every time you scroll to a new zoom level, the current multiplier appears in the action bar (above the hotbar) in the format Zoom: 2.0x. The readout disappears automatically when you release the zoom key.
Changing the Keybind
The zoom key defaults to C and appears under the Zoom Mod category in Options → Controls. You can rebind it to any key there.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Persistent multiplier — the zoom level you set stays the same for the entire session. The next time you hold C, it resumes at that level rather than resetting to default.
- No hotbar interference — scroll events are intercepted and discarded while zooming, keeping your selected hotbar slot unchanged.
- Pure field-of-view adjustment — the zoom works by dividing your active FOV by the multiplier, so it integrates naturally with your in-game FOV setting.
- No server-side component — the mod operates entirely on your client and requires no installation or configuration on any server.
Progression And Strategy
- Building — zoom in to check block alignment or detail on a structure from a distance without flying closer.
- Scouting — scan terrain or locate mobs and points of interest far away before committing to travel.
- Precision aiming — use a higher multiplier (8×–16×) for ranged combat or long-distance bow shots to better judge target position.
- Start at a lower multiplier (around 2×–4×) for general use and reserve the higher end for specific long-range tasks where maintaining situational awareness matters less.
