Quickstart

1. Craft a Field Rifle or Parley Radio using the recipes below.
2. Craft a full set of War Armor (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots) for better protection against raiders.
3. Head out into the world — vanilla hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, spiders, creepers, witches, etc.) are automatically replaced by rival army raiders when they spawn.
4. If you want a break from the fighting, use the Parley Radio to toggle a temporary truce with raiders.
5. Fight or negotiate your way through villages under raid by American, French, German, and Irish raider squads, and pick up their crossbows and loot.

Overview

World At War replaces the world's usual hostile mobs with four rival raider armies — American, French, German, and Irish — each armed and ready to fight. These raiders behave like patrol squads: they form captain-led groups, march on villages, break into buildings to reach you, and fight with both melee attacks and crossbows. Alongside the raiders, the mod adds a set of custom war-themed gear: a powerful Field Rifle, a full suit of War Armor, and a Parley Radio that lets you call a temporary ceasefire.

How To Use

Fighting the Raiders

Once this mod is active, ordinary hostile mobs no longer spawn — in their place, one of the four raider armies appears instead. These raiders:

• Form squads with a captain who leads and rallies nearby raiders.
• March toward and settle in villages, acting like raid patrols.
• Switch between melee and ranged (crossbow) combat depending on distance and whether they're in water.
• Will break through wooden doors, planks, and even stone to reach you if you're nearby, so barricades alone won't stop them.
• Celebrate victories with taunts and jumps when a fight goes their way.

Defeating raiders can drop crossbows, and captains have a chance to drop emeralds and additional equipment.

Calling a Truce

Hold and use the Parley Radio to toggle "Parley" mode:

• Activating it makes raiders treat you as non-hostile.
• Using the radio again ends the truce, and raiders will resume treating you as an enemy.

This is useful for exploring raided areas, collecting loot, or repositioning without immediately drawing aggression.

Equipping War Gear

Wear the War Helmet, War Chestplate, War Leggings, and War Boots together for a full protective set. Wield the Field Rifle in your hand for strong melee-style damage output. All war gear can be enchanted like normal armor and weapons for further customization.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft your gear at a crafting table:

War Armor pieces and spawn eggs for each raider type are available directly from the creative menu under the Equipment and Items categories.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Raider Replacement: Any vanilla hostile mob that spawns in the world is automatically swapped for one of the four raider armies, keeping every corner of the world contested by rival forces.
• Squad Behavior: Raiders organize into captain-led squads, following their captain, holding ground, and calling for backup when engaged.
• Building Breach: Raiders actively destroy doors, wooden planks, and stone blocks near players to force their way into shelters.
• Ranged/Melee Switching: Raiders automatically switch between crossbow attacks and melee strikes based on combat range and whether they are submerged in water.
• Parley Toggle: The Parley Radio grants a temporary personal truce, tracked as a status that can be turned on or off at will.

Progression And Strategy

Early on, expect frequent skirmishes as vanilla hostile spawns are replaced by armed raiders — build up War Armor quickly for survivability. Use the Field Rifle for strong single-target damage against tougher raiders and captains. When you need to explore raided villages safely or gather dropped loot without a fight, activate the Parley Radio first. Watch for captains, identifiable as squad leaders — defeating them nets bonus loot like emeralds and equipment, and can break up an entire raiding party.
