Description:
Wither Storm mod brings the massive Story Mode Wither Storm into your world as a multi-phase, scripted boss encounter with custom visuals, minion waves, darkness/wither storm pulses, and an action-bar boss HUD that shows health and phase. Players craft a Command Block Core (or use a special spawn egg) to summon the boss and craft Formidi Bombs to detonate when the core is exposed; bombs deal huge scripted damage, consume one on use, and trigger dramatic effects to help finish the fight. Defeating the Wither Storm rewards you with loot including nether stars and additional Command Block Cores so you can replay the encounter, while on-screen phase messages and minion mechanics guide the progression.
Mod Wiki
Wither Storm
Quickstart
- Gather a Nether Star, Eyes of Ender, Redstone, and Soul Sand at a crafting table to craft a Command Block Core.
- Hold the Core and use it (right-click / hold use) to summon the Wither Storm boss directly in front of you — back up fast.
- Fight through all three phases. Watch the action bar for live health and phase info.
- When the boss reaches Phase 3, its core becomes vulnerable. Switch to a Formidi Bomb, hold use to detonate it near the boss, and repeat until it dies.
- Collect your loot — Nether Stars and another Command Block Core drop on death so you can run the fight again.
Overview
Wither Storm is a boss-encounter mod that brings the colossal, multi-phase Wither Storm from Minecraft: Story Mode into your survival world. The creature is massive, relentless, and requires a specific weapon — the Formidi Bomb — to finish off. A live action-bar HUD tracks its health and current phase throughout the fight, and escalating minion waves keep you from focusing the boss unchallenged.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|
| Wither Storm | Giant multi-phase boss with 900 HP, 24 melee damage, full knockback resistance, and a darkness aura. |
| Command Block Core | Craftable item that summons the Wither Storm when used. Max stack: 1. |
| Formidi Bomb | Craftable throwable that detonates for 170 damage in a 20-block radius. Max stack: 16. |
| Wither Storm Spawn Egg | Alternative way to place the boss directly (Creative / commands). |
How To Use
Summoning the Boss
Hold the Command Block Core and use it. The Wither Storm spawns at your location immediately. Make sure you have room — the boss is 3× normal scale with a 7.5-block-tall collision box.
Reading the HUD
As long as you are within 96 blocks of the Wither Storm, your action bar displays:
- The boss name and current phase number (1–3).
- A colour-coded health bar (purple filled / grey empty).
- Exact HP out of 900.
Phase transition messages are broadcast to all nearby players when the boss crosses health thresholds.
Using the Formidi Bomb
Hold the Formidi Bomb and use it to detonate. Each bomb:
- Deals 170 damage to everything within 20 blocks.
- Is consumed on use (one bomb per detonation).
- Produces dramatic scripted effects.
Prepare several bombs before engaging Phase 3.
Crafting And Obtaining
Command Block Core
Formidi Bomb
Crafting yields 2 Formidi Bombs per craft.
Abilities And Mechanics
The Wither Storm
- 900 HP — full knockback resistance; conventional weapons barely move it.
- 24 melee damage per hit with a 360° attack arc.
- Darkness aura — inflicts the Darkness effect on players within 24 blocks every 8 seconds.
- Fire immune and immune to being pushed by players or pistons.
- Follow range of 64 blocks — it will hunt you across a wide area.
Phases
The fight has three phases driven by remaining health:
| Phase | Triggers at HP | Notable Change |
|---|
| 1 | Full health → 558 HP | Base behaviour, minion waves begin |
| 2 | 558 HP → 252 HP | More frequent/larger minion waves |
| 3 | Below 252 HP | Core exposed; Formidi Bombs required to end the fight |
Each phase transition sends an on-screen message to nearby players.
Minion Waves
The Wither Storm spawns minion mobs during the fight. The number of minions per wave increases with each phase, and they spawn in a ring around the boss. Minions must be dealt with to avoid being overwhelmed.
Progression And Strategy
- Prepare before summoning. Stock up on strong armour (Netherite recommended), healing, and at least 4–6 Formidi Bombs. You need Nether Stars to craft bombs, so defeat a vanilla Wither first.
- Phase 1 & 2 — whittle down with normal weapons. Bows, swords, and other damage sources work fine in the first two phases. Prioritise killing minions to keep the pressure manageable.
- Save your Formidi Bombs for Phase 3. The damage bonus is enormous, but bombs are expensive. Keep your distance, place the bomb, detonate, and move — each bomb deals 170 damage in a 20-block radius, so don't stand in the blast.
- Stay within 96 blocks to keep the HUD active so you always know the boss's current health and phase.
- On defeat, the Wither Storm drops 3 Nether Stars and 1 Command Block Core, giving you the ingredients to craft more Formidi Bombs and immediately replay the encounter.
