Weather Storms And Tornadoes

Quickstart

  1. Craft a Storm Console at a crafting table:

minecraft:compass
minecraft:redstone
minecraft:amethyst_shard
Arrow
com_weather_storms_and_tornadoes_icynxbat:storm_console
  1. Hold the console and use it to open the Weather Console.
  2. Choose Thunderstorm, Tornado, or Cyclone outbreak. If you choose Tornado, select a profile from the next menu.
  3. To end an event early, use the console again and choose Clear weather.

Start events while in the Overworld. Tornadoes and outbreaks begin near you and drift across the area.

Overview

The Storm Console lets you trigger and clear severe weather events on demand. A thunderstorm lasts about 10 minutes; a tornado or cyclone outbreak lasts about 6 minutes. Starting another event replaces the active one.

What It Adds

  • Storm Console: A handheld item that opens the weather controls.
  • Thunderstorm: Starts severe thunderstorm weather.
  • Tornado: Creates one moving vortex, with a profile you choose.
  • Cyclone outbreak: Creates two moving vortices.

How To Use

Use the console to open its menu, then select an event. For a tornado, choose one of the nine profiles on the Tornado Profiles screen. Tornado and outbreak events pull and swirl nearby entities; dropped items and experience orbs are unaffected. The effect reaches entities within about 8 blocks of a vortex.

The action bar shows the event name and remaining time. Tornado profiles with a listed wind speed also show that speed.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft one Storm Console from amethyst shards, a glass pane, redstone, and a compass using the recipe above.

Abilities And Mechanics

Tornado profileProfile styleSurface blocks it can remove
EF0RopeCrops
EF1Bigger ropeCrops and wool
EF2ConeCrops, wool, and wood
EF3Stove pipeIncludes stone
EF4Mini wedgeIncludes iron blocks, iron ore, iron bars, and chains

Fire tornadoFireNo terrain removal; 50 mph
WaterspoutWaterNo terrain removal; 100 mph
LandspoutLandNo terrain removal; 120 mph

The EF profiles remove eligible surface blocks as the vortex passes. Fire tornadoes show flames, while waterspouts show water effects.

Progression And Strategy

There is no required progression: use the console to try any event or tornado profile. Test tornadoes away from farms, wooden builds, and other areas you want to preserve; stronger EF profiles can remove increasingly sturdy surface blocks.
