Voidfire Dragon Crossbow

Quickstart

1. Craft the Voidfire Dragon Crossbow using the recipe below.
2. Hold use item (right-click) to start charging it. Hold still while it charges — you'll see swirling portal and dragon breath particles building up at your character's eyes.
3. Keep holding for about 2.5 seconds until you hear the Ender Dragon growl.
4. Release to fire a screaming voidfire fireball at whatever you're looking at.
5. Watch it detonate on impact in a burst of dragon breath and portal particles — then wait for the weapon to cool down before firing again.

Overview

The Voidfire Dragon Crossbow is a single, powerful ranged weapon that channels the destructive energy of the Ender Dragon into a chargeable, explosive projectile launcher. Instead of firing arrows like an ordinary crossbow, it launches a corrupted dragon fireball infused with voidfire — dealing an explosive impact wherever it lands, without leaving fire or destroying terrain.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the crossbow using an Ender Eye, End Rods, a vanilla Crossbow, and Dragon's Breath:

Since it uses Dragon's Breath, you'll need to have fought (or at least visited) the Ender Dragon and bottled its breath beforehand.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Charge and hold: Right-click to begin charging. Unlike a normal crossbow, this weapon does not "lock" a charge you can walk around with — you must hold the use button continuously until you fire.
• Charge time: Roughly 2.5 seconds (50 ticks) of holding are required before release will fire a projectile. Releasing early does nothing.
• Firing: Once charged, releasing the use button launches a fast-moving voidfire fireball in the direction you're aiming.
• Impact: On hitting a block or entity, the fireball detonates with an explosion that damages nearby entities but does not destroy terrain, accompanied by a burst of dragon breath and portal particles.
• Cooldown: After firing, the crossbow needs about 7 seconds (140 ticks) to recover before it can be charged again. Attempting to use it during cooldown does nothing.
• Enchanting: The crossbow can be enchanted with crossbow enchantments (such as Quick Charge and Piercing) since it is recognized as a crossbow-type weapon.
• Only one can be held effectively at a time — the item does not stack.

Progression And Strategy

• Because it requires Dragon's Breath, this weapon is a late-game reward best obtained after your first Ender Dragon encounter.
• Its area-of-effect impact makes it strong against groups of enemies or for clearing space in tight corridors, without the terrain destruction of a normal explosive.
• The long charge time and lengthy cooldown mean it rewards careful aim and timing rather than rapid-fire use — line up your shot before you start charging, and try to stay still and safe while charging since you can't move quickly while holding it.
• Pair it with Quick Charge enchantments if you want to reduce time between shots, since the weapon is enchantable like a standard crossbow.
