Vinewrapped Wither Mace

Quickstart

1. Gather a Wither Skeleton Skull, a Vine, an Oxidized Copper Chain, and a Stick.
2. Craft the Vinewrapped Wither Mace at a Crafting Table using the recipe below.
3. Equip it in your hand and strike any mob — it deals 9 attack damage and instantly inflicts the Wither II effect.

Overview

The Vinewrapped Wither Mace is an uncommon melee weapon fashioned from a long wooden haft tightly bound with grapevines. Its signature trait is the Wither effect it applies on every hit, draining the health of anything it strikes and making it especially dangerous against heavily armoured targets.

What It Adds

How To Use

Equip the mace in your main hand and attack enemies normally. Every successful hit applies Wither II to the target for 3 seconds, causing their health bar to darken and steadily drain on top of the initial strike damage. This makes it effective for weakening tough mobs or players even when you can't follow up immediately.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Wither II on Hit — Each entity struck receives Wither II (60 ticks / 3 seconds). The effect is visible via particles, making it easy to confirm a hit landed.
• Sword Enchantments — The mace accepts all standard sword enchantments (Sharpness, Looting, Fire Aspect, etc.) with an enchantability of 15.
• Repairable — Durability can be restored using Planks or Vines at an Anvil, restoring 15 durability per material used.
• Fuel — In a pinch, the mace can be used as furnace fuel (3 seconds of burn time).

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the mace at a Crafting Table once you have obtained a Wither Skeleton Skull (dropped by Wither Skeletons in Nether Fortresses):

The recipe unlocks automatically once you have a Wither Skeleton Skull, Vine, Oxidized Copper Chain, or Stick in your inventory.

Progression And Strategy

• Mid-to-late game weapon — The Wither Skeleton Skull requirement means you will need to venture into Nether Fortresses before crafting this weapon, placing it firmly in mid-game progression.
• Wither synergy — The Wither effect bypasses armour when draining health, making the mace particularly strong against iron- or diamond-armoured opponents.
• Enchant early — With only 60 durability, apply Unbreaking as soon as possible to extend the weapon's life. Mending is also a strong choice given the low base durability.
• Looting — Adding Looting increases the mob drop rates, helping you farm more Wither Skeleton Skulls for spare maces.
• Keep Vines handy — Vines are easy to farm in jungles and swamps, making cheap on-the-go repairs straightforward at any Anvil.
