Quickstart

1. Craft a Village Heart using one of the two recipes below.
2. Hold the Village Heart and right-click (use) on any mob, including hostile ones like zombies.
3. Watch the heart particles and hear the friendly chime — that mob is now permanently on your side!
4. Keep exploring: befriended mobs will follow you everywhere and never attack you again.

Overview

Village Hearts lets you turn any mob, friendly or hostile, into a loyal companion that follows you forever. No taming mechanics, no feeding rituals — just use the item on a target and it becomes your friend. Perfect for building a strange entourage of zombies, skeletons, villagers, or anything else that walks.

What It Adds

• Village Hearts — a glowing, enchanted-looking item used to befriend mobs.
• A befriending interaction that works on any mob, including normally hostile ones.
• Persistent "follow" behavior for befriended mobs, including teleportation to keep up with you.
• Ambient heart particle effects around your new companions.

How To Use

• Hold a Village Heart and right-click any mob to befriend it.
• In Survival mode, using a Village Heart consumes one from your stack; in Creative mode it is not consumed.
• If you try to befriend a mob that's already your friend, you'll get a message letting you know.
• Once befriended, a mob will:
  • Stop being hostile toward you.
  • Automatically walk toward you if it strays too far away.
  • Teleport near you if it falls very far behind (about 20 blocks).
  • Occasionally emit heart particles to show its affection.
• Village Hearts can also be worn as a trinket/accessory if you use a compatible accessory system, and they can be enchanted like other equippable items.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are two different recipes to craft a Village Heart, using different sets of valuable materials:

Either recipe produces the same Village Heart item — choose whichever ingredients you have on hand.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Universal Taming — unlike vanilla taming, Village Hearts work on any mob, including undead and other normally unfriendly creatures.
• Ownership — each befriended mob remembers which player befriended it and will follow that specific player.
• Non-Aggro — befriended mobs will never target or attack their owner, even if provoked by other means.
• Follow Logic — companions try to stay close, walking toward you when a moderate distance away, and teleporting to your side when they fall far behind.

Progression And Strategy

• Stock up on multiple Village Hearts if you plan to build an army of companions — each mob you want to befriend requires its own heart (in Survival mode).
• Because the effect works on hostile mobs, Village Hearts are a great way to turn dangerous encounters into permanent allies instead of fighting them.
• Use befriended mobs as escorts, decoration, or just companionship as you explore — they'll never leave your side for long.
