Description
Unknown Veil adds a mysterious mask that completely anonymizes you: when worn your overhead nametag, chat messages, join/kick/ban messages, and death announcements are replaced by rapidly changing cryptic alphanumeric identities shown in grey while surrounding message text remains plain white. Equip the Veil and right‑click to open its UI to choose Fake chat/command, Fake death announcement, Fake join message, or the new Fake ban message; Fake chat/command can send masked /say, /msg, /join, and /ban announcements, and all fake messages strip player-entered Minecraft color codes. The GUI now also includes a Change permanent fake username mode so you can save a sanitized permanent grey identity that persists across sessions and is used for your overhead nametag and all veil identities (one‑off fields in the UI still override it for individual announcements, and leaving the permanent name blank clears it to restore randomized behavior).

Quickstart
- Craft the Veil Table at a regular crafting table using the recipe below, then place it in your world.
- Gather the mask ingredients and bring them in your inventory. Walk up to the Veil Table and interact with it — it will automatically consume the ingredients and give you the Unknown Veil Mask.
- Equip the mask in your helmet slot.
- Right-click (interact) while holding or wearing the mask to open the Veil UI and start sending anonymous messages.
Overview
Unknown Veil is an anonymity mod built around a single wearable item: the Unknown Veil Mask. While the mask is equipped, your overhead nametag and every server-wide message associated with you — chat, deaths, joins, kicks, and bans — is replaced by a rapidly scrambling 12-character grey alphanumeric identity. Other players see only cryptic, constantly shifting names in grey, while the surrounding message text appears in plain white. No one can trace those messages back to your real username.

How To Use
Wearing the Mask
Place the Unknown Veil Mask in your helmet slot. From that moment on:
- Your overhead nametag displays a scrambling grey identity instead of your real username.
- Any chat message you send is broadcast under that grey identity.
- Real join, kick, ban, and death announcements tied to your account are replaced by anonymous versions.
The grey identity scrambles every few ticks, so it constantly changes in appearance, making it impossible to track across messages.
The Veil UI
With the mask equipped, right-click (interact) to open the Veil UI. It presents five modes:

Note: All fake messages automatically strip any Minecraft color codes you type, so formatting codes cannot leak your real identity.
Crafting And Obtaining
Veil Table
Craft the Veil Table at a regular crafting table:
Place the Veil Table in your world. Interact with it while carrying the required mask ingredients in your inventory to receive the Unknown Veil Mask. The table consumes the ingredients automatically — no crafting grid needed. If your inventory is full when the mask is created, it will pop out on top of the table. Breaking the Veil Table drops it as an item so you can move it freely.
Abilities And Mechanics
Scrambling Identity
The grey alphanumeric identity shown in place of your name is 12 characters long and re-randomizes every 4 ticks (~0.2 seconds). This means no two messages ever appear to come from the "same" person unless a permanent fake username is set.
Permanent Fake Username
Use the Change permanent fake username option in the Veil UI to enter a name you want to keep. That name:
- Is sanitized (Minecraft color codes are stripped).
- Persists across play sessions.
- Replaces random identities for your nametag and all announcement types.
- Can be cleared by submitting a blank entry, which restores fully randomized behavior.
One-Off Overrides
When filling out individual fields inside the Fake death, Fake join, or Fake ban forms, you can manually enter a custom username for that single message. This overrides the permanent fake username just for that one announcement, giving you fine-grained control over what name appears in each fake event.
Progression And Strategy
- Early anonymity: Craft the Veil Table as soon as you have the ingredients and forge the mask. Equip it immediately to start masking your chat presence.
- Persistent alias: Set a permanent fake username if you want a consistent (but still grey and unrecognizable) identity rather than a constantly scrambling one.
- Social engineering: Combine the fake join, chat, death, and ban announcement modes to craft convincing server events. All grey names blend with normal server message formatting, making fake announcements hard to distinguish at a glance.
- Flexible use: You don't have to commit to one identity. Clear your permanent name at any time to return to random scrambling, or override it per-message for specific fake announcements.
