Traveler Satchel

Quickstart

1. Craft a Traveler Satchel from leather, a chest, and string:

1. Hold the satchel in either hand and use the use-item control (right-click by default) to open it.
2. Move items into the satchel’s storage grid. Items remain stored in that individual satchel when you close it or carry it elsewhere.
3. Use the player inventory and hotbar shown below the satchel grid to move items normally. Shift-clicking supports quick transfers.
4. Upgrade the satchel with progressively better materials when you need more storage.

You can also obtain the base item directly in Creative mode with:

/give @s traveler-satchel-pgdxtohu:traveler_satchel_pgdxtohu

Overview

Traveler Satchels are portable storage items with tiered capacities. Each satchel stores its own contents and opens in a dedicated animated interface with a color theme matching its tier.

Opening a satchel also:

• Plays a cloth-opening sound.
• Increments the satchel’s Uses counter.
• Saves the coordinates where it was opened.
• Displays the saved-location status in the satchel screen.

The interface remains centered and aligned with the rest of the HUD as your UI scale changes.

What It Adds

There are six satchel tiers:

Satchels are single items and are placed in the Tools section of the Creative inventory.

How To Use

Opening a satchel

Hold a satchel and use it. The satchel screen contains:

• The satchel’s storage slots.
• Your main inventory.
• Your hotbar.
• The satchel title and tier-themed interface.
• The number of times that satchel has been opened.
• A notice that its most recent opening location has been saved.

You can open a satchel from your main hand or off-hand.

Storing items

Place items in the upper satchel grid or transfer them from your inventory with shift-click. The contents are saved to that specific satchel item.

Satchels cannot be placed inside other satchels, preventing nested storage.

Tracking satchel details

Hover over a satchel in your inventory to see:

• Its tier.
• Its maximum number of stored item stacks.
• The last item added to its storage.
• The instruction for opening it.

Each satchel tracks its own use count and most recently saved opening location.

Viewing another player’s satchel

Operators with the required permission can inspect the first Traveler Satchel found in another online player’s inventory:

/backpackview <player>

This opens the satchel in read-only mode. The viewer can inspect its contents but cannot move items.

Tier upgrades

Each advanced satchel is crafted by surrounding the previous tier with eight units of its upgrade material.

The previous satchel is used as the center ingredient, so upgrade its contents before crafting the next tier if you need to keep them organized.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Portable storage: Open the satchel wherever you are without placing a block.
• Persistent contents: Items stay with the satchel item rather than being tied to a location.
• Tiered capacity: Higher tiers provide larger storage grids.
• Location memory: Every opening saves the satchel’s current block coordinates.
• Use tracking: The satchel screen displays how many times that satchel has been opened.
• Item memory: The tooltip records the last item added to the satchel.
• Tier-themed interface: Each tier has its own visual palette and animated satchel-style screen.
• No nested satchels: A Traveler Satchel cannot be inserted into another Traveler Satchel.

Progression And Strategy

Start with the leather Traveler Satchel for basic mining, exploration, or building supplies. Upgrade it as soon as you have the required materials to gain additional rows of storage.

Useful approaches include:

• Keep one satchel for tools and building blocks and another for travel supplies.
• Store emergency food, torches, crafting materials, and spare equipment in a dedicated exploration satchel.
• Upgrade your most frequently used satchel first.
• Check the tooltip before opening a satchel to identify its tier and last stored item.
• Give each satchel a different purpose so its larger capacity remains easy to organize.
