Thornshell Armor

Quickstart

1. Gather 6 Nautilus Shells, 1 Prismarine Shard, 1 Chainmail Chestplate, and 1 Fermented Spider Eye.
2. Craft the Thornshell Armor at a crafting table (recipe below).
3. Equip it to your chest slot — that's it! Any mob or player that hits you will immediately take retaliatory damage.

Overview

Thornshell Armor is a seashell-themed chestplate with a permanent, irremovable Thorns II enchantment. Its magical enchantment glint is always visible, signalling its retaliatory power. Wear it and let your enemies regret every swing.

What It Adds

The armor appears in the Combat creative tab.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Permanent Thorns II — Every time a mob or player damages you while you are wearing this chestplate, there is a chance they take retaliatory damage, exactly as the vanilla Thorns II enchantment works.
• Cannot be stripped — The Thorns II enchantment cannot be removed by any means (grindstone, commands, etc.). If somehow the enchantment is missing, it reapplies itself automatically the next tick the item is in your inventory.
• Enchantment glint — The item always displays the enchantment shimmer effect, reflecting its permanently magical nature.

Progression And Strategy

• Thornshell Armor pairs especially well with high-traffic combat situations — mob farms, PvP, or dungeon runs — where you expect to absorb many hits in quick succession.
• Combine it with other protective armor pieces on your head, legs, and feet to maximise both defence and the passive Thorns retaliation.
• Because the chestplate slot is dedicated to Thornshell, consider using enchanted helmets or leggings to compensate for any protection levels you might otherwise place on a chest piece.
• The 336-durability pool is respectable, but repair it with an anvil or Mending when needed to keep the retaliatory effect active in longer fights.
