The Aether Horizon
Quickstart
- Survival: Craft an Aether Compass, then use it and choose Enter The Aether Horizon to travel to the skylands. Use the compass again and choose Return home when you want to leave.
- Creative: Search the Creative Inventory for the Aether Compass, custom blocks, or mob spawn eggs. Place a spawn egg on the ground to try a mob.
- Explore the islands, gather Skyroot Logs and Holystone, and make Skyroot tools. Keep a Cloud Parachute in hand for dangerous falls; eat Ambrosia when you need food and healing.
Overview
The Aether Horizon is a high-altitude dimension of sky islands, open drops, and hostile flying creatures. Aether Grass and Aether Dirt cover much of the terrain, with Holystone beneath. Skyroot trees grow across the islands, and regions such as Sky Meadows and Cloud Peaks give the landscape variety.
The Aether Compass provides travel into the dimension and a route back to the Overworld.

Creatures
| Creature | Behavior and use |

| Aerbunny | Interact with or hold one to receive Slow Falling. |
| Zephyr | Hostile flyer that attacks from range with wind projectiles that can knock you back. |
| Cockatrice | Hostile, quick attacker whose hits inflict poison. |
The custom creatures have spawn eggs in Creative. Zephyrs drop Gravitite Shards; other creature drops include prismarine shards from Aerwhales, porkchops from Phygs, rabbit drops from Aerbunnies, and feathers from Cockatrices.
Safety and supplies
- Cloud Parachute: Keep it selected while falling from a high place to trigger its fall protection, including Slow Falling and Feather Falling.
- Ambrosia: Eat it for a rapid hunger refill and temporary Regeneration. It can be eaten even when you are not hungry.
- Aerbunny: Its Slow Falling effect can help with an island descent, but keep a parachute ready for longer falls.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft these items at a crafting table. Recipe shortcodes open the full recipe when selected.
- Make four Skyroot Sticks from Skyroot Logs:
- Craft an early Skyroot Sword:
- Craft a Skyroot Pickaxe, Axe, or Shovel:
- Make a Cloud Parachute:
- Make Ambrosia:
- Make the Aether Compass:
Mine Holystone to obtain Holystone Cobblestone. Skyroot Leaves can drop Skyroot Saplings. Gravitite Ore is rare in Holystone; Zephyrs are a source of Gravitite Shards. Custom blocks and items can also be found by name in the Creative Inventory.
Abilities And Mechanics
- The Skyroot Sword deals more damage than the Skyroot tools; the Pickaxe, Axe, and Shovel work as their respective tools.
- A Cloud Parachute helps control dangerous falls when held.
- Ambrosia restores hunger and grants temporary Regeneration.
- Zephyr wind projectiles can shove you toward an island edge. Cockatrice attacks add poison, so avoid letting either enemy close in.
Progression And Strategy
Start by collecting Skyroot Logs and Holystone to craft Skyroot Sticks and tools. Keep the Aether Compass for travel and carry a Cloud Parachute before exploring distant islands. When crossing narrow ledges or fighting Zephyrs, stay away from edges; save Ambrosia for a tough encounter or a quick food refill.
