Tempest Tracker
Quickstart
Craft and place a Tempest Radar, then right-click it with an empty hand to check for tornadoes. The radar reports a nearby storm’s level, distance, direction, suction radius, and approximate funnel height.
Tornadoes can appear naturally in the Overworld. To try one immediately, an operator can use /tempest summon 2 or /tornado 2; the level can be any number from 0 to 5. The tornado appears nearby, and everyone receives a warning.
Overview
Tempest Tracker brings moving tornado events to the Overworld. A tornado forms gradually amid rain and lightning, travels across the landscape, and eventually dissipates. Storm events also set the weather to rain and thunder for their duration.
Tornadoes can develop naturally, with a much greater chance during a thunderstorm. Only one can be active in a dimension at a time.
What It Adds
- Tempest Radar: A placeable block that reports an active tornado within 640 blocks of the radar.
- Moving funnels: Swirling tornado visuals that form and fade over time.
- Wind and terrain hazards: Wind can lift and pull nearby players, mobs, and dropped items. Stronger tornadoes can also tear up exposed surface blocks.
- Lightning: Strikes can occur near the funnel during a tornado event.
How To Use
Place a Tempest Radar where you can check it easily, such as at a base. Right-click it with an empty hand to get a report. The direction is measured from the radar’s position, not yours. If the tornado is more than 640 blocks away, the radar reports that it is out of range.
When a warning appears, check the reported suction radius and keep clear of the funnel. Tornadoes move, so don’t assume a safe spot will stay out of their path. The funnel strengthens as it forms and weakens as it dissipates.
Commands
Operators can use these commands in the Overworld:
/tempest status— check for an active tornado in the current dimension; reports its level, coordinates, suction radius, and estimated remaining time./tempest summon <level>— start a tornado at a chosen level from0to5./tornado <level>— an alternate summon command./tempest clear— remove the active tornado and restore the weather conditions from before it began.
Operators can also summon one through chat with !tornado 0 through !tornado 5, or !tornado0 through !tornado5.
How to install
This Java mod can be used on Windows and Mac PCs with the CreativeMode Launcher or any Minecraft launcher of your choice.
