Description:
Players automatically shout humorous voice lines when injured: a short "ouch that hurt" on normal damage and a dramatic "omg how did I survive that" when you survive a heavy hit or fall to very low health. The addon includes built-in cooldown protection to prevent audio spam and uses custom registered OGG sound assets so the lines play seamlessly during gameplay. No setup or commands are required — just install the addon and take damage in survival or multiplayer to hear the reactions.

Survivor Voice
Quickstart
- Install the
.mcaddon file — both the behavior and resource packs apply automatically to your world.
- Load a survival world (singleplayer or multiplayer).
- Take any damage — walk into a cactus, fall off a cliff, pick a fight with a mob.
- Listen: your character will shout a voice line in reaction. No commands, no crafting, no configuration needed.
Overview
Survivor Voice is a lightweight addon that gives your player character an audible, humorous personality whenever they take damage. Two distinct voice lines react to different levels of peril, making every close call feel more dramatic — and a little funny.
What It Adds
- Two custom voice lines played as positional audio in the world:
- "Ouch, that hurt" — plays on routine damage hits.
- "OMG, how did I survive that?!" — plays when you take a heavy hit (7 or more damage in one strike) or when your health drops to 3 hearts (6 HP) or below while still alive.
- Cooldown protection — a short cooldown (~0.9 seconds) between voice lines prevents audio spam during rapid damage events.
- Slight pitch randomisation — each playback has a small random pitch variation so the lines never sound completely identical.
How To Use
There is nothing to configure. Once the addon is active in a world:
| Situation | Voice Line Played |
|---|
| Normal damage (less than 7 HP in one hit, health above 3 hearts) | "Ouch, that hurt" |
| Single hit deals 7 or more damage | "OMG, how did I survive that?!" |
| Health falls to 3 hearts (6 HP) or below while still alive | "OMG, how did I survive that?!" |
| Damage taken within ~0.9 seconds of the last voice line | (silent — cooldown active) |
The audio is spatial, so nearby players in multiplayer will also hear your reactions.
Abilities And Mechanics
Damage thresholds explained:
- A "big hit" is any single damage event of 7 HP (3.5 hearts) or more. This covers powerful mob attacks, large falls, explosions, and similar high-damage sources.
- "Low health" means your current health is at or below 6 HP (3 hearts) after the hit — regardless of how much damage that individual hit dealt.
- Both conditions trigger the dramatic survival line; only one needs to be true.
Cooldown:
- After any voice line plays, further lines are suppressed for approximately 18 game ticks (~0.9 seconds). This keeps combat noise clean even when you are being hit repeatedly.
Multiplayer:
- Each player has their own independent cooldown tracker, so multiple players taking damage simultaneously will each trigger their own voice lines without interfering with one another.
