Sulfur Vein

Quickstart

1. Smelt Coal in a furnace to produce Sulfur Samples. Each coal takes 10 seconds to smelt and also gives 0.7 experience.
2. Craft a Sulfur Vein from 9 Sulfur Samples by filling a crafting table’s 3×3 grid.
3. Place the Sulfur Vein.
4. Hold a Sulfur Sample and use it on the placed vein. Each use consumes one sample and advances the survey.
5. Use 3 samples on the same vein to complete the survey. You receive 8 experience points and 2 Glowstone Dust, and the vein resets so it can be surveyed again.

Overview

Sulfur Vein adds a small resource loop centered on converting Coal into Sulfur Samples and using those samples to survey crafted Sulfur Veins.

A vein tracks survey progress from 0 to 3 samples. After the third sample, it rewards experience and Glowstone Dust before returning to its unsurveyed state.

How To Use

Smelting Sulfur Samples

Place Coal in a furnace as the smelting ingredient and provide furnace fuel as usual. Each Coal produces one Sulfur Sample after 200 ticks, or 10 seconds, and grants 0.7 smelting experience.

Sulfur Samples stack up to 64.

Crafting a Sulfur Vein

Use 9 Sulfur Samples to craft one Sulfur Vein. Arrange one sample in every slot of a crafting table’s 3×3 grid.

Place the resulting block wherever you want to perform surveys.

Surveying a Vein

1. Hold Sulfur Samples in your hand.
2. Use a sample on the Sulfur Vein.
3. Repeat until the survey reaches 3 samples.

The vein displays progress through system messages:

• After the first sample: Sulfur survey: 1/3 samples
• After the second sample: Sulfur survey: 2/3 samples
• After the third sample: the survey completes

A completed survey consumes the third sample, awards 8 experience points and 2 Glowstone Dust, and resets the vein to 0/3. You can immediately begin another survey on the same block.

Crafting And Obtaining

• Sulfur Samples: Smelt Coal in a furnace.
• Sulfur Veins: Craft 9 Sulfur Samples together in a full 3×3 crafting-table pattern.
• Placed Sulfur Veins: Mine them with a pickaxe. A stone-tier pickaxe or better is required for the correct tool.

Sulfur Veins are stone-like blocks and can be placed like other blocks. They drop a Sulfur Vein when mined successfully.

Abilities And Mechanics

• A Sulfur Vein accepts Sulfur Samples only when they are used directly on the block.
• Each successful use consumes one Sulfur Sample.
• Every vein has three survey stages: 0/3, 1/3, and 2/3.
• The third sample completes and resets the survey.
• Each completed survey gives:
  • 8 experience points
  • 2 Glowstone Dust
• A vein can be surveyed repeatedly as long as you supply more Sulfur Samples.
• The survey action produces an interaction sound, with a distinct completion sound when the reward is granted.

Progression And Strategy

Start by smelting Coal into Sulfur Samples, then reserve 9 samples for each new Sulfur Vein. Once a vein is placed, keep additional samples nearby so you can complete repeated surveys without moving the block.

Because a completed survey returns the vein to its initial state, a single safely placed vein can serve as a reusable source of experience and Glowstone Dust.
