Stormfall Barometer — A craftable hand-held instrument that opens the control menu. Found in the Equipment tab.
How To Use
The Barometer Menu
Hold the Barometer and use it to open the menu. Options include:
- Start Season / Stop Season — Enables or disables the automatic disaster loop.
- Set Weather — Force clear, rain, or thunder weather.
- Clear Active Disaster — Immediately ends the current disaster (no rewards granted).

The Action-Bar HUD
The HUD updates every second and shows one of three states:
| Situation | HUD Text |

| Disaster active | Disaster name · seconds remaining · Intensity 1–3 |
| Season active, no disaster | "Stormfall season active · next forecast in Xs" |
| Season inactive | "Stormfall season inactive · use the Barometer to start" |
Abilities And Mechanics
Disaster Flow
- Season is started via the Barometer.
- A cooldown of 90–180 seconds passes before the first disaster.
- A random disaster is chosen and announced to all players with a flavour warning.
- The disaster runs for its full duration, applying hazards each second.
- When time expires the disaster ends, rewards are granted, and a new cooldown begins.
Intensity
Each disaster spawns with a random intensity of 1, 2, or 3. Higher intensity means more severe in-world effects (more lightning, stronger knockback, heavier meteor rain, etc.).
In-World Effects
- Lightning Storm — Lightning bolts strike exposed terrain near players.
- Tornado — A funnel spawns within ~18 blocks of a player and applies knockback.
- Meteor Shower — TNT meteors fall from above.
- Flash Flood — Water blocks are temporarily placed and then fully cleaned up when the disaster ends.
- Blizzard / Heatwave / Hailstorm — Status effects and particles are applied to players.
- Earthquake — Ground-level shaking and damage pressure.
World Persistence
Season state (active/inactive, cooldown timer, flood water locations) is saved with the world and fully restored when you reload. Temporary flood water is always cleaned up on disaster end or world reload.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Stormfall Barometer is the only craftable item. It is also given automatically to every new player on first spawn.
Craft it at a Crafting Table using Glass, Copper Ingots, Redstone, and an Iron Ingot.
Progression And Strategy
Survival Rewards
Every time you outlast a disaster, all online players receive:
- +1 point on the
stormfall_survivals scoreboard
- +8 experience levels
- +2 copper ingots
Track your total survivals with /scoreboard players list @s or display the stormfall_survivals objective on screen.
Tips
- Get under cover during Lightning Storms — exposure dramatically increases strike chance.
- Move away from the tornado's spawn point (within ~18 blocks of a player); the funnel persists in one location for its duration.
- Build elevated shelters before starting the season to reduce flood water impact.
- Use the Barometer menu to manually trigger disasters for practice before enabling the full random season.
- Stopping the season mid-disaster ends it immediately but does not grant rewards.
- Copper ingots earned from rewards can be used to craft more Barometers — useful in multiplayer where other players may need one.
