Quickstart

1. Craft the Storm Shifter using the recipe below and find it in the Tools & Utilities creative tab.
2. Hold it in your hand and right-click to change the weather.
3. Watch for the chat message confirming the new weather state, and listen for the thunderclap sound.
4. Wait 3 seconds before using it again (a cooldown indicator will appear on the item).

Overview

The Storm Shifter is a single-use-at-a-time weather wand that lets you take full control of the sky. With a simple right-click, you cycle the world's weather through three states in a fixed order. It's perfect for clearing a storm before a big build session or summoning lightning weather for atmosphere or mob farming.

What It Adds

How To Use

Right-click while holding the Storm Shifter to advance the weather to the next state in the cycle:

Each use plays a thunderclap sound audible to nearby players and triggers a 3-second cooldown before the item can be used again.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Weather Cycling: The Storm Shifter always moves through the cycle in order — Clear → Rain → Thunderstorm → Clear. You cannot skip states.
• Instant Effect: The weather changes immediately upon use; no delay between the click and the new weather taking effect.
• Cooldown: A 3-second cooldown prevents rapid repeated use. The item's cooldown bar is visible in your hotbar.
• Vanishable: The Storm Shifter is affected by the Curse of Vanishing enchantment.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Storm Shifter requires end-game and rare materials, reflecting its powerful sky-controlling ability:

• Lightning Rods — gathered from copper crafting
• Ghast Tears — dropped by Ghasts in the Nether
• Ender Pearls — dropped by Endermen
• Nether Star — obtained by defeating the Wither

Progression And Strategy

The Storm Shifter is a late-game item — the Nether Star alone requires defeating the Wither boss. Plan accordingly:

• Build projects: Instantly clear rain whenever visibility or dry conditions matter.
• Mob farming: Cycle to Thunderstorm to enable lightning-based mechanics (e.g., trident channeling, witch spawns from villagers struck by lightning).
• Atmosphere: Summon storms on demand for dramatic builds or screenshots.
• Because it stacks to only 1 and the recipe is costly, treat it as a reusable tool worth protecting — consider pairing it with a Curse of Vanishing-free setup or keeping a spare in storage.
