Storage Crate

Quickstart

1. Craft a Storage Crate using oak planks and a chest (see recipe below).
2. Place it anywhere in the world — it automatically faces you.
3. Right-click the crate to open its 27-slot inventory (a standard 3×9 grid).
4. Break it with an axe when you want to move it; all stored items scatter on the ground so nothing is lost.

Overview

The Storage Crate is a decorative yet fully functional storage block. It holds the same number of items as a single chest but comes in a distinctive wooden crate aesthetic, with detailed textures on every face — corner posts, rails, side bands, and center braces — making it look solid and purposeful from any angle.

What It Adds

The crate appears in the Functional Blocks creative inventory tab.

How To Use

• Placing: Place the crate like any block. It always faces toward you when placed.
• Opening: Right-click the crate to open a 3×9 inventory grid. Add, remove, and rearrange items as you normally would in any container.
• Closing: Press Escape or close the screen to save and exit.
• Breaking: Use an axe for fastest mining. When the crate is broken, every item inside drops at that location — nothing is deleted.

Crafting And Obtaining

The recipe is unlocked as soon as you join a world. Craft the crate by surrounding a chest with oak planks:

Stacks up to 64 in your inventory, so you can carry and place many crates at once.

Abilities And Mechanics

• 27 inventory slots — identical capacity to a single vanilla chest.
• Directional placement — the crate's front face always orients toward the player who places it.
• Safe breaking — items scatter onto the ground rather than being destroyed when the block is broken.
• Axe-mineable — axes break the crate faster than other tools.
• Comparator support — a redstone comparator placed next to the crate reads its fullness like any standard storage block.

Progression And Strategy

• Use Storage Crates early on as an alternative to plain chests when you want a more rugged, visual look for your storage rooms or base.
• Because they stack to 64 as items, transporting a large number of crates to a new location is straightforward.
• The automatic facing behavior makes it easy to build neat, consistent storage walls — just stand in front of the row and place each crate in turn.
