Steelbound Gear
Quickstart
- Grab an Iron Ingot and a Coal — combine them in a crafting table to make a Steel Ingot.
- Combine your Steel Ingot with a Copper Ingot and a Lapis Lazuli to craft a Steelbound Ingot.
- Use Steelbound Ingots (plus sticks where needed) to craft any piece of Steelbound equipment.
- Find all items in the Steelbound Gear creative tab.
Overview
Steelbound Gear introduces a two-step metal progression that sits above iron and below netherite. First you refine iron into Steel, then you alloy Steel with copper and lapis into the mod's core material — the Steelbound Ingot — which unlocks a full set of tools and armor.

Abilities And Mechanics
- Steelbound tools use standard tool attack speeds comparable to netherite but with their own damage and speed values tuned for a mid-to-late progression tier.
- Steelbound armor uses a durability base of 36 per armor type, placing it firmly between iron and netherite in staying power. It equips with the Netherite equip sound.
- Repairs: All Steelbound gear (tools and armor) can be repaired in an anvil using Steelbound Ingots.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game — gather iron and coal as normal. Once you have both, start converting iron into Steel Ingots.
- Mid game — mine or smelt copper and collect lapis lazuli (found underground, commonly between Y=0 and Y=64). Combine with Steel Ingots to produce Steelbound Ingots.
- Gearing up — craft tools first (pickaxe is the most useful for continued mining), then fill out your armor set. A full set requires 24 Steelbound Ingots.
- Maintenance — keep a few Steelbound Ingots in your inventory to repair gear at an anvil rather than re-crafting entire pieces.
