Quickstart

1. Craft the Short Bow using sticks and a single string (two recipes available — pick either orientation):

1. Make sure you have arrows in your inventory.
2. Hold right-click to draw and release to fire. Full draw is reached in just 5 ticks — nearly instant.
3. Spam quick shots at close range or hold briefly for a full-power critical shot.

Overview

The Short Bow is a lightweight, ultra-fast alternative to the standard bow. It sacrifices damage and range in exchange for an exceptionally rapid draw speed, making it ideal for close-quarters rapid-fire combat. Where a normal bow takes 20 ticks to fully draw, the Short Bow reaches full power in only 5 ticks.

• 320 durability (slightly less than a regular bow)

How To Use

• Hold right-click to draw the bow. Release to fire.
• Thanks to the extremely low pull threshold, even the briefest tap of right-click will launch an arrow — great for rapid successive shots.
• Hold slightly longer (just a fraction of a second) to reach full draw and fire a critical arrow for maximum damage.
• Arrows fired from the Short Bow travel with extra drag, limiting their effective range compared to a regular bow.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Critical shots: Releasing at full draw (5 ticks or more) marks the arrow as critical.
• Arrow drag: Short Bow arrows lose velocity faster in flight, keeping engagements close-range.
• Works with Creative Mode (no ammo required) and consumes arrows in Survival as normal.

Progression And Strategy

• Early game: The Short Bow is cheap to craft (just sticks and one string), making it accessible almost immediately after spawning.
• Close range harassment: Its near-instant draw makes it excellent for cave fights, corridors, and situations where you need to fire quickly between dodges.
• Paired with a regular bow: Use the Short Bow for rapid-fire suppression up close and swap to a standard bow for long-distance shots.
• Avoid open terrain: The reduced range and damage mean the Short Bow underperforms against distant targets — stick to tight spaces where speed matters.
