Description:
Shattering Mire Stone: a white-gray carved stone block. Right-click to throw it as a gravity-affected projectile. On impact or landing it replaces blocks in a 5x5 area with fragile, non-damaging mire blocks that slow movement significantly and apply mining fatigue while inside; the mire blocks are quickly broken.

Shattering Mire Stone
Quickstart
- Gather stone, soul sand, and clay, then craft the Shattering Mire Stone at a crafting table.
- Hold the block in your hand.
- Right-click (use) to hurl it as a gravity-affected projectile.
- Watch where it lands — on impact it converts a 5×5 area of ground into mire blocks.
- Walk into the mire to see the slow and fatigue effects, then break the fragile mire blocks by hand in seconds.
Overview
The Shattering Mire Stone is a white-gray carved stone block that doubles as a throwable weapon and area-denial tool. When thrown, it arcs through the air under gravity and shatters on landing, flooding a patch of terrain with temporary mire blocks that punish anyone who steps inside them. The mire blocks are extremely fragile, so the hazard is short-lived — making the stone best used as a tactical disruptor rather than a permanent trap.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|
| Shattering Mire Stone | A craftable block/item you throw to create mire zones. |
| Mire Blocks | Temporary, fragile blocks spawned on impact. They slow movement and apply Mining Fatigue to any entity standing inside them, but deal no direct damage. |
How To Use
- Throwing: Hold the Shattering Mire Stone and right-click. The stone launches forward as a gravity-affected projectile (similar to a snowball arc). One stone is consumed per throw.
- Impact zone: When the projectile hits a surface or lands, all blocks in a 5×5 flat area at that point are replaced with mire blocks.
- Mire effects: While standing inside mire blocks, players (and other entities) receive a significant movement speed reduction and Mining Fatigue.
- Breaking mire blocks: Mire blocks take only about 0.4 seconds to mine and drop nothing — they simply disappear when broken.
- Placed block: You can also place the Shattering Mire Stone as a decorative carved stone block. When mined, it drops itself.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Shattering Mire Stone at a crafting table using stone, soul sand, and clay:
The recipe unlocks automatically once you have stone, soul sand, or clay in your inventory.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Gravity arc: The thrown stone follows a realistic curved path, so aim slightly above your target at longer distances.
- 5×5 replacement: The mire fills a full 5×5 square on the Y-level of impact, overwriting whatever blocks were there.
- No damage: Mire blocks themselves deal no damage — their threat is purely the slow and fatigue debuffs.
- Fragility: Mire blocks have very low durability and vanish without dropping anything, making the hazard temporary by design.
- No explosion resistance concern: Mire blocks have low explosion resistance and can also be cleared by blasts.
Progression And Strategy
- Early use: All three crafting ingredients are available from the very start of a world, so the Shattering Mire Stone is accessible immediately.
- Combat: Throw it at an enemy's feet to slow their approach and hamper their ability to break blocks or fight back effectively.
- Choke points: Toss it into narrow corridors or doorways to create a temporary hazard zone for pursuing mobs or players.
- Conservation: Each throw consumes one stone, so keep a small stockpile crafted before heading into situations where you'll need it.
- Cleanup: If mire blocks are placed somewhere inconvenient, they break almost instantly — a single hit removes them.
