Shadowforge Greatblade

Quickstart

1. Craft the Shadowforge Greatblade using the recipe below.
2. Equip it in your hand — it deals devastating melee damage to anything you hit.
3. Right-click (or press the use button) while holding it to transform it into a mining pickaxe form.
4. Use the pickaxe form to tear through stone, ores, and other hard blocks almost instantly, and watch raw ores turn straight into their smelted ingots when mined.
5. Right-click again to transform it back into its greatblade sword form for combat.

Overview

The Shadowforge Greatblade is a single, powerful shadow-forged weapon that serves two purposes in one item. In its sword form, it is an overwhelming melee weapon capable of felling almost any foe in a single strike. In its pickaxe form, it becomes an incredibly fast, ore-smelting mining tool. Switching between the two forms is instant and happens with the same item — no need to carry separate tools.

What It Adds

• Shadowforge Greatblade — a rare, glinting greatblade that doubles as a mining pickaxe.
• A transformation mechanic that swaps the weapon between sword and pickaxe forms on command.
• An instant-smelting mining effect that converts certain raw ores directly into their finished ingots as you mine.

How To Use

• Attacking: While in sword form, simply hit an enemy — it inflicts an enormous amount of damage, easily defeating almost any target in one hit.
• Transforming: Use the item (right-click / use action) to toggle between the Greatblade (sword) form and the pickaxe form. The item stays in your hand slot; only its form changes.
• Mining: While in pickaxe form, break blocks such as stone, cobblestone, deepslate, netherrack, end stone, obsidian, and various ores — it mines these at extreme speed, far beyond a normal tool.
• Instant Smelting: When mining certain ores in pickaxe form — iron ore, deepslate iron ore, gold ore, deepslate gold ore, copper ore, deepslate copper ore, ancient debris, and nether gold ore — the raw drop is automatically replaced with its smelted result (for example, iron ore drops an iron ingot instead of raw iron ore, and ancient debris drops netherite scrap).
• Durability: The weapon has a large but limited durability pool and can occasionally take extra wear when used. It can be repaired using netherite ingots at an anvil.
• Enchanting: It can be enchanted like a sword, accepting sword-type enchantments.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Massive Damage: Every hit landed in sword form applies an extreme amount of damage, making it a near-guaranteed one-hit kill against most creatures and players.
• Form Swap: Using the item switches it between its sword and pickaxe identities, letting one item serve as both a weapon and a mining tool.
• Unstoppable Mining: In pickaxe form, it destroys stone, ores, obsidian, and other tough blocks at an extremely high speed, cutting mining time down dramatically.
• Auto-Smelt Drops: Certain ores are automatically converted into their smelted ingot form the moment they're mined, skipping the furnace entirely.
• Repair: Restore lost durability by repairing it with netherite ingots.

Progression And Strategy

Because it requires a nether star and netherite ingots to craft, the Shadowforge Greatblade is best treated as an end-game or creative-mode centerpiece rather than an early-game tool. Once obtained, it removes the need to carry both a weapon and a pickaxe, and it eliminates most furnace smelting for the ores it supports. Keep netherite ingots on hand for repairs, and remember to toggle its form before you swing — attacking in pickaxe form or mining in sword form won't give you the intended effect.
