Scarlet Ladybug Defender

Quickstart

• In Creative, search for the Scarlet Ladybug Defender Spawn Egg and use it to spawn her. You can also use /summon com_scarlet_ladybug_defender_z3jbqf65:myzombie.
• Watch from a safe distance. Most Defenders don’t seek out players, but they can retaliate if attacked.
• About 40% of spawned Defenders get a hovering Ladybug Yo-Yo. If you spot one, watch it: after about 10 in-game minutes, the Defender arms itself and becomes hostile toward nearby players.

There are no crafting recipes for the Defender or her yo-yo.

Overview

Scarlet Ladybug Defender is an undead, zombie-like mob with a rare Lucky Charm event. The yo-yo hovering above her signals that she will eventually become armed and attack. Without the yo-yo, she generally leaves players alone unless provoked.

What It Adds

• Scarlet Ladybug Defender: A mob that can spawn naturally or be spawned with an egg.
• Ladybug Yo-Yo: A hovering item that appears above some Defenders during the Lucky Charm event.

How To Use

Use the spawn egg on a block to summon a Defender. To see the Lucky Charm event, spawn a few and look for the yo-yo above one of them; not every Defender gets one. Keep your distance while waiting, as the yo-yo marks a future threat rather than a tameable companion.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Lucky Charm: About 40% of spawned Defenders display a yo-yo above them. It follows overhead for about 10 minutes, then disappears as the Defender equips a random sword or axe and begins targeting visible players within 24 blocks. The armed Defender can use melee and ranged attacks.
• Retaliation: A Defender without the Lucky Charm can still fight back if attacked.
• Zombie traits: Defenders burn in daylight and can turn into drowned after remaining underwater for about 30 seconds. They may pick up and equip items.

Progression And Strategy

Defenders spawn in groups of one or two in dark areas, both on the surface and underground, on Easy through Hard difficulty. If you want to observe the Lucky Charm event, spawn several Defenders and stay out of reach of any yo-yo-marked mob.

A defeated Defender can drop 0–2 rotten flesh. Player- or pet-killed Defenders also have a small chance to drop one red dye, black dye, or string.
