Description
A relentless raider horde that grows stronger, smashes defenses, and can be sworn into.
Mod Wiki
Relentless Raider Horde
Quickstart
- Survive normally — the horde builds up automatically as time passes in your world, no summoning required.
- Craft a Horde Oath Sigil (see recipe below) to attempt to make peace with the raiders.
- Hold the sigil and use it (right-click/interact) to swear the Horde Oath. If accepted, nearby raiders stop targeting you.
- Watch the action bar — it shows the current day count and the horde's growing "Threat" multiplier.
- Keep your defenses strong: raiders will smash through doors, glass, and planks to reach you.
Overview
Relentless Raider Horde introduces a persistent, ever-strengthening enemy faction that stalks the world. As the days pass, the horde grows in size and power, hitting harder and breaking through common building materials to get to you. Regular hostile mobs are cleared from the area around players, leaving the Relentless Raiders as the dominant threat. Players who don't want to fight can instead swear a binding oath to the horde using a special crafted item, turning them from prey into a spared ally.
What It Adds
- Relentless Raider — a custom hostile mob (and matching spawn egg) that spawns naturally in groups and grows more dangerous the longer the world has existed.
- Horde Oath Sigil — a craftable item that lets a player negotiate safety from the horde.
- A day/threat tracking system shown in the action bar, so you always know how strong the horde currently is.
- Automatic removal of most vanilla hostile mobs near players, so the Relentless Raiders take over as the primary threat.
How To Use
- Fighting the horde: Relentless Raiders behave like pillager-type raiders — they use crossbows at range and switch to melee attacks up close, including underwater. They target players and villages, and can break through weak defenses such as glass, glass panes, wooden doors, and basic wooden planks to reach their target.
- Swearing the oath: Hold the Horde Oath Sigil and use it on yourself.
- If the horde accepts your oath, you become an ally — raiders will no longer chase or attack you, and no new horde waves will spawn near you.
- If the horde rejects the oath, nothing changes and you can try again later.
- Using the sigil again while you're an ally will renounce the oath, making you a target once more.
- Reading the threat level: The action bar continuously displays the in-world day number and a "Threat ×" multiplier representing how much bonus damage raiders currently deal. If you are oathbound, this is also shown.
- Loot: Defeated raiders can drop crossbows, sometimes enchanted, and captain-type raiders may drop armor pieces.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Horde Oath Sigil using iron ingots, redstone, and a diamond at a crafting table:
Relentless Raiders themselves are not crafted — they spawn naturally over time and in growing numbers as the world ages, or can be obtained instantly via the Relentless Raider Spawn Egg in Creative-style inventories.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Escalating power: Every in-game day that passes increases the horde's damage multiplier dramatically. This bonus damage is added on top of a raider's normal attacks whenever they hit a player, so the horde becomes exponentially more dangerous the longer a world survives — up to a capped maximum multiplier.
- Growing numbers: Larger waves of raiders spawn around players periodically, with wave size increasing every several in-game days, up to a population cap near any one player.
- Base smashing: Raiders actively seek out and destroy nearby breakable structures — glass, glass panes, wooden doors, and oak/spruce/birch planks — to reach their target, so simple builds won't hold them back forever.
- Hostile mob suppression: Common hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, endermen, witches, blazes, and more) are periodically cleared from the area around players, leaving the Relentless Raiders as the dominant danger.
- Oath system: Using the Horde Oath Sigil has a chance to grant immunity from raider targeting and horde spawns. This chance isn't guaranteed on first try, and the oath can be renounced at any time by using the sigil again.
Progression And Strategy
- Early on, the horde is small and only slightly stronger than normal enemies — a good time to gear up and build solid, raider-resistant defenses using materials the horde cannot break.
- As days pass, both raider numbers and their damage multiplier increase sharply. Long-term survival strategies should account for exponential difficulty growth rather than a fixed, static threat.
- Players who prefer building, exploring peacefully, or simply want relief from constant raids can pursue the Horde Oath Sigil as an alternative to combat — though earning the horde's trust may take more than one attempt.
- Watch the action bar's threat multiplier closely: it's the clearest signal of how dangerous the current state of the world has become and whether it's time to fortify, flee, or negotiate.
