Description
Experiment with configurable gravity as nearby unsupported structures break loose, fall, and settle.
Mod Wiki
Reelgravity
Quickstart
- Reelgravity’s block gravity is enabled by default; there are no special items or recipes to find.
- Near your character, build a small structure with support underneath it, then break a supporting block. Watch the unsupported blocks fall and settle.
- Keep clear while testing: impact damage is enabled by default. An operator or Game Director can turn it off with
/com_reelgravity_q6fdbzxw:settings.
Overview
Reelgravity makes nearby unsupported blocks break loose, fall, and settle in the world. Its physics apply to blocks, not to players or mobs. Block checks happen after players place or break blocks, and the area around online players is also checked periodically.
What It Adds
The mod adds configurable gravity and a settings screen, rather than new blocks, items, or creatures. Blocks fall as part of the world and keep their arrangement; they do not become dropped items.
How To Use
There is no tool to equip or special interaction to trigger. Build or alter structures nearby and let gravity check their support. Some attached, decorative, or stateful blocks—such as torches, signs, doors, rails, and chests—are excluded from falling.
Use /com_reelgravity_q6fdbzxw:settings to open the settings screen. Select Save settings to apply your choices; settings are saved for the world.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no Reelgravity recipes or dedicated items to craft. The main way to experiment is to build structures and change their supports.
Abilities And Mechanics
A block’s weight affects how much load it places on supports and how quickly it falls. Blocks that are too heavy for their support, or that lose support altogether, can fall as connected structures. Falls accelerate and stop when the structure settles against support.
Default material tendencies include:
| Block group | Default behavior |
|---|---|
| Sand and gravel | Moderate weight and support |
| Glass | Light, weak support, and fragile |
| Iron, copper, gold, and other metal-named blocks | Heavy, stronger support, faster falls |
| Wood, logs, planks, and stems | Moderate weight and support |
| Stone, concrete, brick, and similar blocks | Heavy, stronger support, faster falls |
| Leaves | Light, weak support, slower falls |
| Other eligible blocks | Standard weight and support |
Glass can break after falling at least four blocks. When Entity impact damage is enabled, nearby entities can take damage when a structure lands after a fall of at least four blocks. Item drops and experience orbs are ignored. Players in Creative mode can still take configured impact damage.
Progression And Strategy
There is no progression path: experiment with small, inexpensive builds first. Use the settings screen to tune the simulation:
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Gravity enabled | On | On / Off |
| Physics work per tick | 24 | 4–64 |
| Structure analysis cap | 96 blocks | 16–192 |
| Nearby discovery per tick | 24 | 0–128 |
| Entity impact damage | On | On / Off |
| Damage per block | 1 | 0–4 |
If a large connected build does not move, try raising Structure analysis cap. For safer building experiments, disable Entity impact damage or set Damage per block to 0.
