Redstone Wither

Quickstart

1. Gather 7 blocks: 4 Cobblestone, 1 Redstone Block, and 3 Dispensers.
2. Build the summoning structure (a T-shape):
   • Bottom: 1 Cobblestone on the ground.
   • Middle row: Cobblestone · Redstone Block · Cobblestone (left–center–right).
   • Top row: Dispenser · Dispenser · Dispenser (directly above the middle row).
3. Place the final Dispenser to complete the pattern — the blocks vanish and the Redstone Wither erupts into existence with a distinctive electronic ding.
4. Alternatively, use the command /summon redstone-wither-6aha5cgt:redstone_wither_6aha5cgt to spawn it instantly.
5. Immediately back away — it starts shooting unpredictable projectiles within seconds.

Tip: The structure can face either the X or Z axis, so you have flexibility in where you build it.

Overview

The Redstone Wither is a supercharged boss mob that replaces the classic Wither skull attacks with chaotic redstone-powered weaponry. It looks like a Wither but with glowing redstone accents and dispenser-style heads. It is dramatically tougher than a normal Wither, has unique electrical abilities, and holds a special rivalry with vanilla Withers — hunting them down whenever they are nearby.

Abilities And Mechanics

Stats

The Redstone Wither has significantly boosted stats compared to a normal Wither:

Projectile Attacks

Instead of Wither skulls, it fires a random mix of dispenser-style projectiles from its three heads:

• Arrows
• Splash Poison Potions
• Fireballs
• Launched TNT

The combination and timing are unpredictable, making it difficult to anticipate incoming damage.

Redstone Burst Attacks

Periodically, the Redstone Wither unleashes a charged contraption burst — a surge of electric particles accompanied by loud mechanical noise. This attack delivers heavy knockback and applies debuffs to nearby players.

Temporary Piston

During a fight, the Redstone Wither can spawn a temporary piston near players to physically shove them out of position. The piston disappears after a short time.

Friendly/Hostile State

When summoned, the Redstone Wither randomly starts in either a friendly or hostile state. An action bar message appears indicating its mood (e.g., "The redstone hums calmly" vs. "Its dispensers lock onto you"). A hostile Redstone Wither will attack players; a friendly one will not.

Wither Rivalry

The Redstone Wither actively seeks out and attacks vanilla Withers within a large range. When a duel begins:

• It maintains a controlled distance of roughly 9–15 blocks from the vanilla Wither.
• It limits vertical drift to stay roughly level with its target, preventing it from endlessly climbing into the sky.
• Vanilla Withers will fight back.
• Redstone Withers ignore each other — they will not fight among themselves.

Progression And Strategy

Preparation

• Full Netherite armor is strongly recommended before engaging.
• Bring a shield to deflect arrows and absorb some projectile damage.
• Stock splash/lingering milk buckets or anti-poison potions to counter poison splash attacks.
• Clear a large flat arena — the temporary piston mechanic can knock you off edges.

Fighting Tips

• Keep moving laterally. The projectile spread is random, so constant movement reduces how often you are hit.
• Watch for TNT launches — they have a short fuse and deal massive area damage.
• Poison is a priority threat. Cure it immediately with milk or have Protection IV armor to reduce the splash effect radius impact.
• At 50% health the Redstone Wither will intensify its attack frequency, similar to a normal Wither's second phase.
• If a vanilla Wither is nearby, you can let them duel — both will take damage, softening the Redstone Wither before you engage.

Loot

Defeating the Redstone Wither guarantees Glowstone Dust drops alongside the standard Wither drops (Nether Star and experience). The Nether Star can be used to craft a Beacon as normal.
