Quicksand Veil

Quickstart

1. In Creative mode, find Quicksand Bucket in the Tools & Utilities tab, next to the Water Bucket. With cheats enabled, you can also get one with /give @s quicksand-veil-cyfy7zgh:quicksand_bucket.
2. Use the bucket on a block, or aim at a block and use the bucket, to place quicksand. In Survival, the bucket is used up and an empty bucket is returned.
3. Step into the quicksand to sink and explore its amber fog. Hold sneak to sink more slowly.

For a quick test with commands, /setblock ~ ~ ~ quicksand-veil-cyfy7zgh:quicksand places a quicksand block at your position.

Overview

Quicksand Veil adds quicksand that slows and sinks entities, along with dense amber fog when you are inside it. Quicksand patches also generate naturally in deserts.

What It Adds

• Quicksand: A sinking block that slows movement and can hurt living entities that remain inside.
• Quicksand Bucket: A placeable bucket of quicksand.
• Amber fog: Visibility becomes very limited while your camera is inside quicksand.

How To Use

Use the Quicksand Bucket on a surface or aim at a block and use it to place quicksand. If the targeted block cannot be replaced, the quicksand is placed on the adjacent face if that space is free.

Quicksand touching water turns into sand. If you want to keep a patch intact, place it away from water.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Entities that enter quicksand sink and have their movement slowed. Spectators are unaffected.
• Sneaking makes you sink more slowly.
• Living entities inside take 1 point of damage about every 2 seconds.
• Holding leather boots gives you a solid collision surface over quicksand.
• Inside the block, fog becomes amber and visibility is limited to about five blocks.

Crafting And Obtaining

There is no crafting recipe for the Quicksand Bucket. Find it in the Creative Tools & Utilities tab, or use /give @s quicksand-veil-cyfy7zgh:quicksand_bucket with cheats enabled. To obtain the quicksand block item directly, use /give @s quicksand-veil-cyfy7zgh:quicksand.

Progression And Strategy

Try a small patch in a clear area first: step in, then sneak to compare sinking speeds. Keep water away from the patch, and be ready to leave quickly if you stay submerged, since quicksand slows movement and deals damage over time.
