Prismatic Patience Rock

Quickstart

1. Head underground and mine Gay Ore (found in stone layers) or Deepslate Gay Ore (found deeper) using an iron pickaxe or better. Each ore block drops one Prismatic Patience Rock and gives you 3 XP.
2. Take your Prismatic Patience Rocks to a crafting table and craft whichever Rainbow tool you need first — the pickaxe is a great starting point.
3. Use Rainbow tools exactly like their vanilla counterparts: left-click to attack or mine, right-click for special actions (hoe tilling, axe stripping, shovel path-making).

Overview

Prismatic Patience Rock adds a new mid-to-late-game tier of tools sitting between diamond and netherite. The entire toolset — sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe — is crafted from the Prismatic Patience Rock, a material dropped by two new ore types that generate naturally underground. The tools perform better than diamond across the board but fall just short of netherite, giving you a meaningful upgrade path before you reach the Nether.

What It Adds

Both ores appear in the Natural creative inventory tab alongside vanilla ores.

Crafting And Obtaining

Getting Prismatic Patience Rock

Mine Gay Ore or Deepslate Gay Ore with an iron pickaxe or better. Each block drops 1 Prismatic Patience Rock. Fortune enchantments work as expected. Mining grants 3 XP (in Survival).

Rainbow Tools

All Rainbow tools are crafted using Prismatic Patience Rocks (R) and Sticks (S) at a crafting table, following the same layouts as vanilla tools.

Rainbow tools can also be repaired in an anvil using Prismatic Patience Rocks.

Abilities And Mechanics

Tool Stats

Rainbow tools are stronger than diamond but weaker than netherite in durability, mining speed, and damage — a clear step up from diamond without replacing the netherite grind.

Rock Sound

A distinctive rock sound plays whenever you:

• Mine a Gay Ore or Deepslate Gay Ore block
• Kill an entity while holding a Rainbow tool in your main hand

Prismatic Patience Rock — The Hidden Item

The Prismatic Patience Rock is also technically edible. Eating it takes a full 2 minutes of continuous use. If you actually manage it, you'll earn a hidden challenge advancement: "Wow... you actually took the time to do that."

While you're holding a Prismatic Patience Rock (in your main hand or off-hand), your action bar will periodically display a percentage that increases the more rocks you're carrying. Dropping a Prismatic Patience Rock also triggers the rock sound.

Progression And Strategy

• Early underground: Farm Gay Ore as soon as you can reach it with an iron pickaxe. The ore is rare in standard stone, so branch mining helps.
• Deeper runs: Deepslate Gay Ore generates more commonly than its stone counterpart, so digging into the deepslate layer is the most efficient way to stock up on Prismatic Patience Rocks.
• Tool priority: Craft the Rainbow Pickaxe first to speed up further mining, then the Rainbow Sword for combat upgrades. The axe, shovel, and hoe follow as needed.
• Anvil repairs: Keep a few spare Prismatic Patience Rocks in your inventory to repair tools before they break, since the ore is rare and the material isn't renewable otherwise.
• XP bonus: Mining the ores always gives 3 XP per block (in Survival), making them a small but consistent source of experience during mining runs.
