Planetary Cataclysm Console
Quickstart
- In Creative, find the Cataclysm Console in the Cataclysm Controls tab or Tools inventory. Hold it and right-click to open the console. If commands are enabled, you can open it with
/cataclysm. - Choose a disaster card to launch it immediately. The console starts at 3.0x intensity by default; use − / + to set a level from 1.0x to 3.0x in 0.5x steps.
- Try Random Disaster to launch a surprise event, or toggle Spawn In Front to choose whether the event is anchored ahead of you or at your position.
- Use Stop All Disasters or
/cataclysm stopto end every event in your current dimension.
Events affect nearby creatures and natural terrain, so try one in an open area. Each lasts about 30 seconds unless stopped, and up to three can run in a dimension at once.
Overview
This mod lets you trigger nine temporary, intensity-scaled disasters from a handheld console, individual trigger items, or commands. Disasters pulse around a chosen location, affecting nearby living creatures and temporarily reshaping some natural blocks. The terrain changes are restored when an event ends or is stopped.
What It Adds
The Cataclysm Console opens a selector with all nine disasters and controls for intensity, spawn location, cinematic alerts, random selection, and stopping events.
There is also a single-use Trigger item for each disaster. Right-clicking a trigger launches its matching event at 1.5x intensity, about 14 blocks ahead. Triggers have a brief cooldown.
| Disaster | What to expect |
|---|---|
| EF-5 Tornado | A vortex pulls and lifts creatures amid wind and debris. |
| Super-Volcano | Lava and ash-like particles accompany force and damage; nearby terrain may become volcanic rock. |
| Abyssal Tsunami | A splash-filled wave pulse knocks creatures back and leaves temporary icy or prismarine terrain. |
| Tectonic Quake | Stone debris, force, damage, and temporary ground disruption. |
| Meteor Shower | Flame-filled impacts descend around the event area, with damage and temporary scorched-looking terrain. |
| Superstorm | Powerful wind and damage amid clouds and sparks. |
| Cryo-Blizzard | Snow pulses slow nearby creatures and dust the terrain with temporary snow. |
| Abyss Sinkhole | A collapsing area pulls creatures inward and causes debris and damage. |
| Singularity | A gravity-like force pulls creatures toward the center and deals damage. |
How To Use
- Open the console: Hold the Cataclysm Console and right-click, or use
/cataclysmor/cataclysm open. - Launch an event: Click a disaster card in the console. Selecting a card launches it right away; adjusting intensity or toggles beforehand affects that launch.
- Launch a random event: Click Random Disaster.
- Use a trigger item: Hold the matching trigger and right-click. It launches at 1.5x intensity.
- Use commands:
/cataclysm start <disaster>starts a named event at 1.0x intensity. Valid names aretornado, volcano, tsunami, quake, meteor, superstorm, blizzard, sinkhole, andsingularity. - Check the event count: Use
/cataclysm statusto see how many disasters are active in your current dimension. - Stop events: Click Stop All Disasters in the console or use
/cataclysm stop. This ends all active events in that dimension.
The console’s Cinematic Cam toggle adds a planetary alert message and thunder when an event starts; it does not change the disaster’s intensity.
Crafting And Obtaining
No crafting recipes are provided for the console or trigger items. Find them in Creative inventory under Cataclysm Controls or Tools. If commands are enabled, you can use the console commands without holding an item.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Console intensity ranges from 1.0x to 3.0x, in 0.5x increments. Higher intensity increases the event’s reach and force.
- The console labels intensities Moderate below 1.75x, Severe from 1.75x, and Apocalyptic from 2.75x.
- Disasters pulse about once per second and last 30 seconds. The console shows the active count.
- The limit is three active disasters per dimension. If the limit is reached, stop an event before launching another.
- Event locations are anchored on the surface. With Spawn In Front on, the console targets a point ahead of you; with it off, it targets your position. The command start option targets a point ahead of the player.
- Temporary terrain changes are restored when events end or are stopped. Effects can still knock back, pull, slow, or damage nearby creatures while active.
Progression And Strategy
There is no unlock sequence: use any disaster as soon as you have access to the console, a trigger, or the commands. Start with a lower intensity in an open area to see how an event behaves, then raise the intensity or combine events for a larger spectacle. Keep the active-event limit in mind, and use Stop All Disasters if the area becomes too dangerous.
