Description
The Pale Anchor is a chargeable block you right-click with Resin Clumps to add up to four charges; it glows brighter and changes texture per charge so you can tell its level at a glance. While charged, the strongest nearby Pale Anchor (within 128 blocks) grants a Resin Hearts status effect that raises your max absorption, giving 1–4 orange resin absorption hearts equal to the anchor's charge; the effect refreshes automatically while you remain in range and is removed when you leave. If you lose a resin absorption heart (for example by taking damage), the same strongest nearby charged anchor will lose one charge—so three charges give three hearts, and spending one heart will drop the anchor to two charges and two hearts—anchors now synchronize player absorption to their current charge and no longer refill spent hearts each tick, preventing instant reappearance or repeated charge drain; charged anchors persist across world reloads, and right-clicking a charged anchor no longer teleports players or consumes a charge.

Pale Anchor
Quickstart
- Craft a Pale Anchor using the recipe below and place it somewhere in your base.
- Right-click it while holding Resin Clumps to add charges — one clump per charge, up to four.
- Stand within 128 blocks of your charged anchor and watch orange absorption hearts appear above your health bar.
- That's it — the effect refreshes automatically while you stay in range.

Overview
The Pale Anchor is a placeable block that acts as a persistent protective anchor for nearby players. By fuelling it with Resin Clumps, you create a field that grants extra absorption hearts. The more charges the anchor holds, the more hearts you receive. Those hearts are real — they absorb damage — and spending them costs the anchor a charge in return, creating a meaningful resource loop between your health and the block's fuel.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|---|
| Pale Anchor (block/item) | Chargeable block that grants Resin Hearts to nearby players |
| Resin Hearts (status effect) | Beneficial effect that raises max absorption and grants orange absorption hearts |
How To Use
Charging the anchor Right-click the Pale Anchor while holding Resin Clumps. Each clump adds one charge. The block visually changes texture and glows brighter at each charge level (charges 1–4), so you can always tell its current state at a glance. Charges persist through world reloads.
Receiving Resin Hearts While at least one charged Pale Anchor is within 128 blocks of you, the game finds the strongest (highest-charge) anchor nearby and applies the Resin Hearts status effect. This grants orange absorption hearts equal to that anchor's charge level:
| Anchor Charges | Absorption Hearts Granted |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 heart |
| 2 | 2 hearts |
| 3 | 3 hearts |
| 4 | 4 hearts |
The effect refreshes automatically every second while you remain in range. When you move beyond 128 blocks from all charged anchors, the effect is removed.
Spending hearts costs charges If you take damage and lose a Resin Heart, the nearest strongest charged anchor loses one charge to match. For example, if an anchor has 3 charges and you spend one absorption heart, the anchor drops to 2 charges and your Resin Hearts adjust to 2 hearts. The anchor does not automatically refill spent hearts — once a charge is gone, you need to add a new Resin Clump to restore it.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Pale Anchor is crafted at a crafting table. It is also found in the Functional Blocks creative tab.
It is mined with a pickaxe.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Multi-anchor environments: If multiple charged anchors are within 128 blocks, only the one with the highest charge level affects you. Lower-charge anchors in range have no effect while a stronger one is present.
- Charge drain is tied to absorption loss: Each time you lose one resin absorption heart to damage, exactly one charge is deducted from the strongest nearby anchor. Hearts do not instantly reappear; the anchor's new (lower) charge level becomes your new absorption cap.
- Persistent charges: Anchor charges survive world saves and reloads — your anchor will still be fuelled when you log back in.
- Safe to right-click: Right-clicking a charged anchor without holding a Resin Clump does nothing. It will not teleport you or consume any charges.
- Light source: Each charge level increases the anchor's light emission, making it a mild decorative light source as well.
Progression And Strategy
- Early placement: Place an anchor near your spawn or base early on. Even one charge gives you a free absorption heart that can save your life from surprise attacks.
- Stockpile Resin Clumps: Resin Clumps drop from Resin deposits in the world. Keeping a supply on hand lets you quickly recharge an anchor after a tough fight drains it.
- Four charges for maximum protection: A fully charged anchor gives four bonus hearts — equivalent to two full rows of absorption — making dangerous activities like mining or exploration much safer.
- Multiple anchors for coverage: Because only the strongest nearby anchor applies, you can place anchors at key locations (base, mine entrance, nether portal room) each fully charged, and automatically benefit from whichever one you're closest to.
- Charge as a buffer, not a shield: Since hearts don't refill automatically, treat your anchor charges as a finite buffer. After taking heavy damage, restock your anchor before the next dangerous encounter.
