Oxfish

Quickstart

• In Creative, find the Oxfish Spawn Egg and use it underwater to spawn an Oxfish. With commands enabled, use /summon com_oxfish_2o4bmuq2:mycustom ~ ~ ~.
• To see them in the wild, explore underwater in a deep ocean. They spawn in small groups in low light.
• Keep your distance: Oxfish are hostile toward nearby players and bite. To raise one, hold dried kelp and interact with an Oxfish; it consumes one kelp and produces a baby.

Overview

Oxfish are spotted aquatic mobs that glide through the water and make bubbling sounds. They swim around on their own, but defend their watery territory by attacking players they can see nearby.

What It Adds

• A hostile, swimming mob with 20 health.
• A matching Oxfish Spawn Egg.
• Baby Oxfish that can be raised with dried kelp.

How To Use

Use the spawn egg underwater, or summon an Oxfish with the command above. Oxfish can swim but cannot walk, and they prefer to stay submerged.

To trigger a birth, hold dried kelp in your main hand and interact with an Oxfish. One kelp is consumed, and a baby appears shortly afterward. Each Oxfish can produce another baby after a one-minute cooldown.

Crafting And Obtaining

Oxfish spawn naturally underwater in deep-ocean biomes, in groups of one or two. They spawn in low light and on Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty. You can also spawn them with the Oxfish Spawn Egg in Creative or with the command shown in Quickstart. The mod has no crafting recipe for the Oxfish.

Oxfish drop 1–2 cod when killed; if they are on fire, the cod is cooked. A player-killed Oxfish may also drop a slimeball, with Looting improving the chance.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Oxfish pursue and bite visible players who come close, dealing 4 damage per hit.
• Baby Oxfish are smaller than adults. Feed a baby dried kelp to speed its growth.

Progression And Strategy

Approach wild Oxfish cautiously, especially underwater where they can close the distance quickly. If you want to raise them, bring dried kelp and interact with an Oxfish; keep babies supplied with kelp to help them grow.
