Quickstart

1. Craft the Orbital Railgun Reforged using the recipe below.
2. Hold it in either hand.
3. Aim your crosshair at a target block or entity within 128 blocks.
4. Hold left-click — a progress message appears on-screen as the lock builds up over about 2 seconds.
5. Once lock reaches 100%, the orbital strike sequence fires automatically. Step back and watch.

Overview

Orbital Railgun Reforged is a late-game sci-fi weapon that calls down a devastating orbital strike on any target you can see. Holding left-click charges a targeting lock; once confirmed, a spectacular multi-stage beam sequence demolishes a 30-block radius sphere — removing every block, including bedrock, and killing all non-creative entities caught in the blast.

How To Use

Locking On

• Equip the railgun in your main hand or off-hand.
• Hold left-click while aiming at a block or entity.
• An action bar message shows "Holding orbital lock X%" as the charge builds over roughly 2.5 seconds (45 ticks).
• Keep your crosshair on the same target — moving it too far resets the charge.
• If a cooldown is active, the remaining seconds are displayed and the lock will not begin.
• If a strike sequence is already running for your character, a new lock cannot be started until it finishes.

The Strike Sequence

Once lock reaches 100%, the sequence begins automatically:

1. Dome deployment — A shimmering blue particle dome (radius 25) surrounds the target point. A beacon activation sound confirms the strike is incoming.
2. Beam charging — Four smaller blue domes (radius 5) positioned around the target fire particle beams upward to a shared orbital point, channelling energy downward.
3. Impact — The main dome shrinks and vanishes, then a colossal bright-blue beam descends with a 30-block destruction radius, vaporising all blocks (bedrock included) and killing every non-creative entity within range.

Cooldown

After each strike, the railgun enters a cooldown of 12 seconds (240 ticks). The remaining cooldown is shown on-screen if you try to fire again early.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Orbital Railgun Reforged is crafted in a standard crafting table with expensive materials, making it a true end-game item:

Abilities And Mechanics

• The targeting crosshair resolves to whatever block or entity you are looking at. If you are looking at open air, the target is estimated along your look direction up to 64 blocks.
• Creative-mode players caught in the blast are not killed.
• Spectator-mode entities are ignored by the kill pass.
• Particles and sounds telegraph every phase of the strike, giving nearby players time to react.

Progression And Strategy

• Gathering materials: All ingredients are craftable or obtainable in vanilla survival. The nether star requires defeating the Wither, making the railgun a post-Wither milestone. Blue ice, diamond blocks, iron blocks, copper blocks, and a redstone block round out the cost.
• Using it safely: The 30-block destruction radius is enormous. Fire from well outside that range and ensure your base or valuables are not nearby.
• Cooldown management: With a 12-second cooldown you get one shot at a time — make it count. Positioning your target carefully before holding left-click avoids wasted locks.
• Bedrock removal: The railgun is one of the only ways to remove bedrock in survival, opening up use cases like clearing the bedrock ceiling in the Nether or removing bedrock floor features.
