Description:
One Way Glass: a dark-tinted glass pane that is transparent from one side and opaque from the other. When placed, the side you place it from becomes the opaque (non-see-through) side; the opposite side remains see-through. Behaves like a directional placeable block.

One Way Glass
Quickstart
- Open a Crafting Table and craft One Way Glass using 8 Glass Panes surrounding 1 Tinted Glass — you'll get 4 blocks per craft.
- Hold a One Way Glass block and place it on any surface.
- The face you placed it from (the surface you clicked) becomes the opaque side — it looks like dark, solid glass from that direction.
- Walk to the other side — it's transparent, letting you see right through.
That's it! Build a wall, stand on the opaque side, and you have a one-way observation window.
Overview
One Way Glass is a single decorative/utility block that lets you see through from one side while appearing completely opaque from the other. Placement is fully directional — the block automatically remembers which face you placed it from and makes that side opaque. All six orientations (north, south, east, west, up, down) are supported, so you can create one-way floors, ceilings, and walls in any direction.
What It Adds
| Block | Description |
|---|
| One Way Glass | Dark-tinted glass block; opaque on the placement face, transparent on the opposite face. Found in the Construction tab of the inventory. |
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft at a Crafting Table. Each craft yields 4 One Way Glass blocks.
Breaking a placed One Way Glass block always drops 1 block, regardless of tool or enchantments.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Directional opacity — the face of the surface you click when placing becomes the opaque (non-see-through) side. The opposite face is transparent.
- Six orientations — works on floors, ceilings, and all four walls.
- Light passthrough — the block does not dampen light, so it won't darken rooms even when appearing opaque visually.
- Not flammable — fire will not spread to or from One Way Glass.
- Fragile — breaks quickly by hand (about 0.45 seconds) and has low explosion resistance.
Progression And Strategy
- Observation rooms & security windows — place One Way Glass so the opaque face points toward the area you want to watch from. Visitors on the watched side see only a dark mirror; you see through clearly.
- Hidden bases — use One Way Glass as an exterior wall. Outsiders see an opaque surface while you can monitor the outside without opening a window.
- One-way floors/ceilings — place the block on a horizontal surface to create floors you can see through from below (or above) while the other side remains solid-looking.
- Pairing tip — combine with normal glass or tinted glass around the edges to blend the look and reinforce the illusion of a solid dark-glass wall.
