Description

Put any enchantment on any item and unleash unexpected powers across your gear.

Mod Wiki

OmniEnchantSMP

Quickstart

  1. Get an enchanted book or enchantment, then use an enchanting table or anvil to put it on an item—even one that normally cannot take enchantments.
  2. Try a cross-category pairing: for example, put Riptide on a tool and right-click while in water, or put Feather Falling on armor and jump from a height.
  3. You can combine normally conflicting enchantments, too. Keep in mind that enchantment levels are still capped at each enchantment’s usual maximum.

Use the item as you normally would. Several special effects trigger on right-click, on a hit, or when breaking a block; see the table below.

Overview

OmniEnchantSMP lets enchantments go on any item and allows normally incompatible enchantments to coexist. It adds special cross-category effects to selected vanilla enchantments, so an enchantment on an unexpected item can do more than its usual job.

What It Adds

The mod uses vanilla enchantments and items; it does not require a new set of gear. The effects below work alongside vanilla enchantment behavior where applicable.

How To Use

Enchant items through normal enchanting-table and anvil play. Anvils can combine normally conflicting enchantments, and their usual 40-level cost limit is raised. This does not raise enchantments above their normal maximum levels.

EnchantmentCross-category effect
Blast ProtectionOn a held weapon, a successful hit creates a damaging, knockback blast around the target. It also triggers when a projectile you own hits.
Fire ProtectionOn a held weapon, hitting a target sets it on fire and briefly grants you Fire Resistance. This also applies when your projectile hits a living target.
Projectile ProtectionRight-click with it held to redirect nearby projectiles in front of you. Attacking a living target with it held can trigger the shield as well.
Sharpness, Smite, Bane of ArthropodsOn a tool, the highest of these enchantment levels adds bonus damage to your hits; the tool’s mining speed affects the bonus.
ChannelingOn a held weapon, a successful hit calls lightning on the target during a thunderstorm if the target can see the sky.
RiptideRight-click with it held while touching or submerged in water, or while exposed to rain, to launch in the direction you’re looking.
Feather FallingOn armor, it braces an eligible fall and releases a damaging knockback slam when you land. With it held, right-click while falling to trigger the slam.
Fire AspectOn your main-hand tool, it smelts block drops that have a smelting recipe when you break the block.
LootingOn held or worn gear, it can grant extra flint from gravel or wheat seeds from grass blocks. Higher levels improve the chances.
InfinityPrevents durability loss on the enchanted item and keeps items from being consumed when they are used up.
LoyaltyEnchanted items you drop are marked to return to you after about 30 seconds, or sooner if they enter lava or fall into the void. If your inventory is full, they’re held for you until there’s room; if you’re offline, they’re delivered when you next join.

Crafting And Obtaining

There are no special mod recipes or items to craft. Obtain enchantments through normal Minecraft methods, such as enchanting tables and enchanted books, then apply them to the item you want. Use an anvil to combine books and gear, including combinations that vanilla normally treats as incompatible.

Abilities And Mechanics

  • Projectile Protection shield: Right-click with the enchantment in either hand. It has a brief cooldown, so it cannot redirect projectiles continuously.
  • Feather Falling slam: Armor can brace a sufficiently long fall automatically. To trigger it from an enchanted held item, right-click while airborne after you have started falling.
  • Loyalty returns: Keep the enchanted item in your inventory or equipped to associate it with you. Dropped items return to their owner; a full inventory delays delivery until space is available.

Progression And Strategy

Experiment with enchantments that match your playstyle: use Riptide for movement in wet conditions, Feather Falling to turn a fall into an area attack, or Fire Aspect on a mining tool for smelted drops. Combining useful enchantments on one item is possible, but each enchantment still obeys its normal maximum level.
