Description:
The Night Listener spawns naturally across the Overworld at night, so simply surviving until dark may be enough to encounter one. If you want to summon it directly, find the Night Listener Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs creative inventory tab and right-click the ground. To stay safe: sneak at all times when you suspect one is nearby, and get indoors or into daylight as quickly as possible.
Night Listener adds a single, terrifying nocturnal predator to the Overworld — a tall, unnervingly thin pale figure that stalks players under cover of darkness. Unlike most mobs, it does not rely solely on line-of-sight. It listens. Every careless step you take could be your last.

| Night Listener Spawn Egg | Found in the Spawn Eggs creative tab; summons the mob directly |
The Night Listener scans for noisy players within 32 blocks every second. It will lock onto you if:
Sneaking is the only reliable way to move without attracting its attention. If it has no current target, even a brief sprint nearby will set it on your trail.
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Max Health | 30 HP (15 hearts) |
| Attack Damage | 7 (3.5 hearts) |
| Movement Speed | Fast (0.32) |
| Follow Range | 48 blocks |
A single hit from the Night Listener applies two status effects to the victim:
Every time the Night Listener takes damage, it gains a burst of Speed II for 3 seconds. Trying to whittle it down in a prolonged fight will cause it to accelerate — hit hard and fast, or don't engage at all.
Like zombies and skeletons, the Night Listener is destroyed by sunlight. Surviving until dawn is a valid — and sometimes the only — escape strategy.
Early game: Avoid the Night Listener entirely. You will not win a fair fight at low gear levels. Build a shelter, light up your area, and never sprint outdoors at night.
Sneaking is your best tool. Move slowly and carefully at night. The Night Listener cannot detect a sneaking player by sound alone, so patience keeps you invisible.
Kite and retreat to daylight. If the Night Listener targets you, your goal is to survive until sunrise. Its burns-in-daylight weakness means that making it to morning wins the encounter automatically.
Engaging in combat: If you must fight, use ranged attacks (bow, crossbow, trident) to deal damage from a distance. Each hit triggers its speed burst, so expect it to close the gap quickly — maintain distance, back up, and keep firing. Melee fighters should wear strong armor and be prepared for the Darkness + Slowness combo after each hit.
XP reward: Defeating a Night Listener drops 15 experience points, making dangerous night hunts rewarding for players seeking rapid leveling.
