Description
Summon the Astral Dragon, defeat its changing phases, and forge a blade from its scales.
Mod Wiki
Mythic Menagerie
Quickstart
- Craft an Astral Seal and use it from your hand to summon the Astral Dragon. It appears ahead of you, above ground, so prepare for an aerial fight. The seal has a 10-minute cooldown and won’t summon another dragon if one is already within 128 blocks.

- Defeat the dragon to collect Astral Dragon Scales and a Nether Star. Use the scales to forge an Astral Blade, which deals extra damage to the dragon.

- Bring armor, food, and a ranged weapon for the fight. The dragon changes to its more dangerous eclipse phase at half health.
In Creative, you can also try the creatures with their named spawn eggs.
Overview
Mythic Menagerie adds a two-phase flying boss, a scale-forged weapon, and a collection of creatures to encounter and befriend. Explore for Direwolves, Frost Stags, Goblin Scavengers, and Village Sentinels—or use spawn eggs to meet them directly.
What It Adds
| Creature | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Astral Dragon | A 200-health flying boss summoned by the Astral Seal. |
| Direwolf | A wild wolf that can be tamed with bones. Direwolves occur in taiga-type biomes. |
| Frost Stag | A horse-like mount found in plains and savanna. It can be tamed, saddled, and bred. |
| Goblin Scavenger | A hostile scavenger that appears in dark areas, including underground. |
| Village Sentinel | A powerful village guardian that fights nearby threats. |
The dragon drops 3–5 Astral Dragon Scales and a Nether Star. Other creature drops include iron ingots from Village Sentinels and, occasionally, useful food or iron from Goblin Scavengers.
How To Use
Befriend creatures and give commands
Feed a creature its preferred food to make it your companion. Use a Menagerie Whistle while your companions are nearby to cycle them through follow, stay, and defend. The command applies to your nearby companions together. Defending companions strike back when something attacks you.
| Companion | Foods to offer |
|---|---|
| Direwolf | Bone |
| Frost Stag | Golden carrot or golden apple |
| Cow or sheep | Wheat |
| Pig | Carrot, potato, or beetroot |
| Chicken or parrot | Seeds |
| Rabbit | Carrot, golden carrot, or dandelion |
| Fox | Sweet berries or glow berries |
| Horse | Golden carrot or golden apple |
| Cat | Cod or salmon |
| Turtle | Seagrass |
| Frog | Slimeball |
| Axolotl | Tropical fish bucket |
Tame a Direwolf by offering bones; it may take more than one. Feed your owned Direwolf an Enchantment Biscuit to restore its health. Frost Stags can be tamed by mounting them repeatedly or feeding them taming foods; add a saddle to ride one.

Abilities And Mechanics
The Astral Dragon hovers and closes in on players. Its attacks deal damage and knock players back; keep moving to avoid being caught close to it. At half health, it enters its eclipse phase, announced on screen. In this phase it attacks more forcefully and can hit players from farther away.
The Astral Blade is a durable sword that deals extra damage to the Astral Dragon. Use it to make the boss fight—and the next set of scales—easier.
