Description
A peaceful, slow-roaming tortoise with a mossy shell and a gentle crop-growing ability. It releases spores on its own from time to time, and you can ask it to release them with a right-click. What It Adds The Mossback Garden Tortoise and its spawn egg The Miniature Garden, a placeable block that can also be equipped on the tortoise Mossy Scute, dropped when a tortoise dies How To Use Right-click with an empty hand: Play the spore-release action. The tortoise pauses while performing it. Sneak + right-click with an empty hand: Stop the current action. If the Miniature Garden is equipped, this instead removes it and drops it as an item. Right-click while holding a Miniature Garden: Equip it if the tortoise does not already have one. The item is consumed outside Creative mode. You can also place the Miniature Garden on the ground like a block. The equipped garden sheds decorative leaf and happy-villager particles. It does not change the tortoise’s crop-growing effect. Crafting And Obtaining Craft a Miniature Garden with moss blocks, a flowering azalea, and dirt: minecraft:moss_block minecraft:flowering_azalea minecraft:moss_block minecraft:moss_block minecraft:dirt minecraft:moss_block minecraft:moss_block Arrow The tortoise can be spawned with its spawn egg. A Mossy Scute drops when one dies. Abilities And Mechanics A spore release affects crops around the tortoise, checking up to three blocks above it and within three blocks horizontally. It can advance up to five eligible crops by one growth stage per release. The effect targets crops, not other plants, and a crop already fully grown will not advance further. The tortoise releases spores periodically without needing player input. A manual right-click also triggers the release.
Mod Wiki
Mossback Spore Gardener
Quickstart
- Get a Mossback Garden Tortoise from its spawn egg, or look for tortoises on grass in bright plains areas.
- Plant crops nearby. The tortoise releases spores periodically on its own.
- Use an empty hand to interact with it and trigger a spore release. It pauses briefly while doing so.
- Craft a Miniature Garden, then use it on a tortoise to equip it—or place it on the ground as a decorative block.
Overview
The Mossback Garden Tortoise is a peaceful, slow-roaming mob that helps nearby crops grow. Its spore releases can affect crops whether or not it has a Miniature Garden equipped.
What It Adds
- Mossback Garden Tortoise and its spawn egg
- Miniature Garden, a placeable block that can also be equipped on a tortoise
- Mossy Scute, dropped when a tortoise dies
How To Use
- Interact with an empty hand: Trigger a spore-release action.
- Sneak and interact with an empty hand: Stop the current action. If the tortoise has a Miniature Garden equipped, this removes it and drops it as an item instead.
- Interact while holding a Miniature Garden: Equip it if the tortoise does not already have one. The item is consumed outside Creative mode.
- Place a Miniature Garden on the ground: Use it like a block. Breaking the placed block drops the item.
An equipped garden sheds decorative leaf and happy-villager particles. These do not affect crop growth.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Miniature Garden at a crafting table:
