Description:
Moon Dust Stalker adds a single hostile mob — the Moon Dust Stalker — to the Overworld. It is a tall, dark, eight-armed spider-like creature that prowls the night, actively hunts players, and uses the darkness itself as a weapon by snuffing out light sources. At sunrise it burns and perishes, making every night a timed survival challenge.

Moon Dust Stalkers spawn naturally in the Overworld at night in groups of 1–6. They are hostile toward players on sight and will actively pursue you with a follow range of 24 blocks. Their movement speed is notably fast, so do not expect to outrun them easily.
One of the Stalker's most dangerous traits is its ability to extinguish torches and lanterns as it moves through your base or camp. Areas that were lit moments ago will be plunged into darkness, potentially spawning additional vanilla mobs and making the Stalker itself harder to see. Always carry backup light sources, and consider using light blocks or other non-extinguishable lighting when building a safe camp.
Like a spider, the Moon Dust Stalker can climb walls and vertical surfaces. No wall or fence will reliably stop it. Underground shelters with overhanging ceilings offer better protection than simple vertical walls.
The Stalker behaves like an undead creature in one key way: it burns when exposed to direct sunlight. If you can survive until dawn, any Stalker caught in the open will take fire damage and die, even without your involvement.

When a Moon Dust Stalker is killed, it drops 1–3 Moon Dust (glowstone dust). This drop only occurs upon death; it does not drop from other sources. Moon Dust is a standard crafting material usable in all vanilla glowstone dust recipes, such as crafting Glowstone blocks, Thick Potions, and Spectral Arrows.
Early game: Moon Dust Stalkers are genuinely dangerous early on. Their 26 HP and 5-damage attacks can kill an unarmored player in just a few hits. Prioritize getting at least iron armor before engaging them directly. If caught unprepared at night, stay indoors and wait for sunrise.
Light management: Carry many torches and be ready to relight your camp after an encounter. Placing your camp's primary lighting higher up (on ceilings or walls above reach) can reduce the number of lights the Stalker can extinguish.
Kiting and ranged combat: Because the Stalker can climb any surface, a bow or crossbow is highly recommended. Fight from a distance to avoid melee hits, and use the terrain to your advantage. Open flat ground is actually risky — the Stalker's speed means it will close the gap quickly.
Sunrise strategy: If you find yourself overwhelmed, simply survive until dawn. Any Stalker caught in sunlight will begin to burn. You can use this mechanic intentionally — lure Stalkers into the open just before sunrise to let the sun do the work.
Moon Dust farming: Each Stalker drops up to 3 glowstone dust. If you need large quantities of glowstone dust and have solid combat gear, nighttime Stalker hunts are a reliable way to accumulate it. A full set of iron or diamond armor and a sword with Knockback will make encounters much more manageable.
