Description
Survive nightly German mustache hordes that scream, fight, and drop gold.
Mod Wiki
Midnight Mustache Mob
Quickstart
- Just play the game at night! Around the time mobs normally start spawning, a horde of Midnight Mustache Mobs will appear near every player in the Overworld.
- Fight them off before sunrise — they hunt you down aggressively and attack in groups.
- Defeat them for a chance at gold nuggets, plus some rotten flesh.
- Want to see one immediately? Use a Midnight Mustache Mob Spawn Egg to summon one anytime, or bring one up with a spawn command using its ID if you have cheats enabled.
Overview
Midnight Mustache Mob turns nighttime survival into a recurring event. Once a night, a horde of screaming, mustachioed undead brawlers rushes toward every player in the Overworld, forcing a fight before daybreak. They're loud, relentless, and drop a bit of gold for your trouble.
What It Adds
- Midnight Mustache Mob — a stocky undead humanoid with a memorable mustache, similar in size and toughness to a zombie but tankier and hard-hitting.
- A nightly horde event — once per in-game night, groups of these mobs spawn around each player automatically.
- Taunting barks — nearby hordes periodically shout German battle-cries in chat/action bar and let out zombie-like groans, so you'll always know when one is close.
- A spawn egg for spawning them on demand outside of the nightly event.
How To Use
- Surviving the horde: Shortly after nightfall, watch for the warning message that the horde has arrived. Groups of up to seven mustache mobs will spawn a short distance from you and beeline for the fight. They can open doors, climb, and swim, so blocking with basic barriers alone won't stop them for long.
- Listening for them: When mustache mobs are near, you'll periodically see taunting messages appear on your screen along with growling sound effects — a good cue to ready your weapon or brace for a fight.
- Ending the threat: Any horde members you don't kill during the night will burn up in daylight (they burn in direct sun) and are cleared out automatically as morning arrives, so you don't need to hunt down stragglers.
- Loot: Defeating a horde member always has a chance to drop a small amount of rotten flesh, and killing one yourself (not with a passive helper) gives a small chance at a gold nugget — better with more looting enchantments on your weapon.
- Interacting: These mobs can be renamed with a name tag like other mobs, and they react to being provoked — hit one and it will fight back immediately.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for this mod's content. The Midnight Mustache Mob is obtained purely through:
- Natural nightly spawns — appears automatically for every player each night in the Overworld.
- Spawn Egg — use the Midnight Mustache Mob Spawn Egg from your creative inventory or hotbar to place one wherever you like.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Combat: Deals solid melee damage and moves slightly faster than a typical zombie. It targets players on sight and will also fight other hostile mobs that get too close to its horde.
- Mobility: Can climb, swim, open doors, and push through crowds — it won't get stuck behind simple obstacles.
- Daylight weakness: Burns up when caught in direct sunlight, so surviving until morning is a valid strategy against a horde you can't beat outright.
- Horde behavior: Mustache mobs spawned during the nightly event are tagged as part of the horde and will support each other, converging on players together rather than attacking one at a time.
- Automatic cleanup: Any horde member still alive when day breaks is removed, keeping the world from filling up with leftover hostiles.
Progression And Strategy
- Early on, treat the nightly horde like an amplified zombie siege — build simple defenses (walls, lit perimeters, a safe room) to control how many mustache mobs reach you at once.
- Since kills reward gold nuggets and rotten flesh, repeatedly surviving hordes is a light but steady source of gold farming if you're willing to fight in melee range.
- As you gear up, standing your ground and clearing hordes outright becomes more efficient than hiding, since defeating them yields loot that hiding does not.
- Keep an ear out for their taunts — they're a free early warning system letting you know a fight (or gold) is nearby before you see them.
