Mega Chest

Quickstart

1. Craft a Mega Chest using 4 regular chests and 1 iron block (recipe below).
2. Place it in the world like any other chest.
3. Right-click the placed block to open it and enjoy 54 slots of storage — double the space of a standard double chest.

Overview

Mega Chest adds a single, powerful storage block: the Mega Chest. It behaves like a familiar wooden chest in almost every way — you can place it, open it, drop items into it, and mine it back up — but its inventory is much larger, giving you a full 54-slot storage grid (the same size as the largest vanilla container GUI) in one convenient block.

What It Adds

• Mega Chest (block & item) — a large storage container with 54 inventory slots.
• Works and looks like a chest for tool compatibility: it's mined fastest with an axe, and is grouped with other chests for any recipes or systems that check for chest-type blocks.

How To Use

• Placing: Place the Mega Chest anywhere you'd place a normal block.
• Opening: Right-click (use) the block to open its storage interface, which displays all 54 slots in a single six-row inventory screen — no need to scroll or manage multiple containers.
• Storing items: Drag and drop items into the slots just like a vanilla chest.
• Breaking: Mining the Mega Chest with an axe is fastest. When broken, all stored items spill out onto the ground so nothing is lost.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft a Mega Chest by surrounding an iron block with 4 chests in a crafting table.

Once crafted, the Mega Chest can be found in your inventory as a placeable block item, and it's also listed in the Functional Blocks tab of the Creative inventory for easy access in creative mode.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Massive capacity: 54 slots means you can store far more items in a single block than a standard chest (27 slots) or even a double chest, cutting down on the number of containers you need to build a storage room.
• Drops safely: Destroying the block empties its contents onto the ground automatically, so you can relocate your storage without losing items — just be sure to pick everything back up before leaving the area.
• Chest-like behavior: The Mega Chest is treated as a chest for mining tool efficiency and for any other systems in the game that recognize chest-type blocks.

Progression And Strategy

Because it requires only common early-game materials (chests and an iron block), the Mega Chest is an accessible upgrade for players who are outgrowing basic chest storage but don't want to build sprawling storage rooms. Use one or a few Mega Chests as central storage hubs for bulk materials, then rely on smaller chests for sorted, specific-item storage around your base.
