Lovestruck Followers
Quickstart
- Give yourself a Devoted Companion Spawn Egg (
item.spawn_egg.entity.com_lovestruck_followers_7nmamise:devoted_companion) using creative inventory or a command.
- Use the spawn egg on one companion — you don't need to spawn all ten yourself. Once a player is nearby, the mod automatically fills out your entourage to a full crew.
- Start walking. Your companions will trail behind you, keeping close and catching up if they fall behind.
- Wander far away or through a portal and check back — any companions that get lost or left behind will be replaced automatically over time.
- Listen and watch for occasional chimes and heart particles near you — that's your companions expressing their devotion.
Overview
Lovestruck Followers gives every player a personal entourage of ten "Devoted Companion" NPCs. Once you have at least one companion nearby, the mod keeps your crew topped up to ten members, has them follow you around the world, and periodically shows their affection with sound and heart particles. Companions are peaceful, harmless, and purely for company — they deal no damage and take none.
What It Adds
- Devoted Companion — a friendly, human-like NPC that follows you loyally.
- Devoted Companion Spawn Egg — used to bring your first companion into the world.
- A large collection of NPC skin variants, so your companions can appear as villagers, scientists, teachers, farmers, builders, and more.
How To Use
- Spawning: Use the Devoted Companion Spawn Egg on the ground near you to create a companion. You do not need to spawn all ten — the mod will grow your entourage to ten companions on its own as long as you have at least one.
- Following: Companions constantly try to stay near you. If one strays too far, it gets nudged back toward you; if it ends up very far away (such as after teleporting, using a nether portal, or being separated for a long time), it will simply reappear right beside you instead of struggling to catch up.
- Interacting: You can interact with a Devoted Companion directly (the game will show an "Interact with Devoted Companion" prompt), though they mainly exist to accompany you rather than trade or perform tasks.
- Naming: Companions display the name "Devoted Companion" by default and cannot be renamed with a name tag.
- Replenishment: If companions are lost, despawned, or otherwise removed, the mod gradually spawns replacements (a couple at a time) whenever you're nearby, so your crew slowly returns to its full size of ten without a sudden crowd appearing all at once.
- Ambience: Every so often, while your companions are near, you'll hear a soft chime and see heart particles above your head — a passive flourish with no gameplay effect.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for this mod. Devoted Companions are obtained only through their spawn egg, which can be selected from the creative inventory or given via command using the identifier com_lovestruck_followers_7nmamise:devoted_companion.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Ownership: Each player has their own personal set of companions; companions spawned for you will follow you specifically, not other players.
- Non-combat: Devoted Companions cannot deal or receive damage and are fire-immune, so they can't be harmed by lava, fire, or hostile mobs.
- Persistent: Companions are marked to persist in the world rather than despawning like typical wandering mobs.
- Auto-maintenance: The game periodically checks your entourage, guiding stragglers closer, teleporting badly lost companions back to you, and spawning replacements until you have ten again.
Progression And Strategy
There is no crafting tree or unlock progression — simply spawn a companion and let the mod handle the rest. The main things to experiment with are:
- Leading your full entourage of ten through different biomes and structures to see their varied NPC skins in action.
- Testing how companions behave when you travel long distances, use portals, or log out and back in — they will always find their way back to a full crew around you.
- Treating them as decorative "followers" for building projects, roleplay, or simply as company while you explore and build.
