Earn villagers' trust through remembered conversations, gifts, and dialogue that changes by profession and time.
Mod Wiki
Living Villages
Quickstart
- Find a villager and right-click them with an empty hand to talk. You’ll see a line of dialogue in chat and your current trust tier and score in the action bar. Your first conversation each in-game day gives +1 trust with that villager.
- To give a gift, right-click while holding an emerald for +8 trust or bread for +4 trust. Gifts are consumed in Survival; they aren’t consumed in Creative.
- Try talking to villagers of different professions, both during the day and at night—their dialogue varies with their profession, the time, and your trust.
Overview
Living Villages makes villagers remember each player individually. Trust belongs to the relationship between you and a particular villager, so building trust with one villager does not automatically affect others.
What It Adds
- Personal trust scores for each player–villager relationship.
- Dialogue that varies by villager profession, time of day, and trust tier.
- Trust feedback shown when you interact: the villager’s dialogue appears in chat, while your tier and score appear in the action bar.
How To Use
Right-click a villager to interact. Hold an emerald or bread to offer it as a gift; otherwise, the interaction counts as a conversation. A conversation raises trust by 1 at most once per in-game day. You can give gifts on repeated interactions; each gift raises trust.
Abilities And Mechanics
Trust is capped between -100 and 100. The displayed tiers are:
| Trust score | Tier |
|---|---|
| -100 to -20 | Hostile |
| -19 to 19 | Neutral |
| 20 to 59 | Friend |
| 60 to 100 | Hero |
Attacking a villager costs 20 trust with that villager. Trust and conversation history are saved with the villager.
Progression And Strategy
Start with daily conversations, then use emeralds or bread when you want to build trust faster. Reaching 20 trust makes you a Friend, and 60 makes you a Hero. Avoid hurting villagers: an attack can undo progress, and each villager keeps their own memory of you.
