Liberty Return Shield

Quickstart

1. Gather red dye, iron ingots, diamonds, and a nether star.
2. Craft Captain America's Shield at a crafting table:

1. Hold the shield in your main hand.
2. Left-click (melee attack) nearby enemies for massive damage and knockback.
3. Right-click / Use to throw the shield — watch it arc out with a particle trail, hit enemies in its path, then automatically return to you.
4. Sneak while holding the shield to block and absorb incoming damage.

Overview

The Liberty Return Shield adds a single, powerful item to Minecraft — Captain America's Shield — an unbreakable vibranium shield that doubles as a devastating melee weapon and a returning ranged projectile. It carries custom enchantment lore (Sharpness XXXX, Knockback XXX, Looting XV) and can be held in either hand.

How To Use

Melee Attack

Hold the shield in either hand and left-click to swing it. Each hit deals 40 damage (equivalent to Sharpness XXXX) and sends enemies flying with powerful knockback.

Throw (Ranged)

With the shield in your main hand, right-click / press Use to throw it. The shield:

• Travels up to 18 blocks in the direction you are looking.
• Leaves a visible particle trail as it flies out and returns.
• Hits all enemies in its path, dealing 40 damage and knockback to each.
• Automatically returns to you after a short moment. Your action bar displays "Shield thrown — it will return!" while it is in flight, and "Captain America's Shield returned." when it comes back.
• Has a brief cooldown between throws (about 1 second).

Important: The throw only works when the shield is in your main hand. If it is in your off-hand, a reminder message will appear on your screen.

Block / Defend

Sneak while holding the shield to enter a blocking stance. The shield absorbs all incoming damage types while you hold the block.

Looting XV

Enemies killed with the shield — whether by melee or throw — benefit from a Looting XV effect, granting significantly increased item drops.

Crafting And Obtaining

Captain America's Shield is crafted at a crafting table once you have iron ingots and a nether star in your inventory (this unlocks the recipe automatically).

The shield cannot break — it is permanent once crafted.

Progression And Strategy

• Early throws: The shield is most effective when thrown directly at a group of mobs lined up in front of you — it hits every enemy along its flight path in a single toss.
• Looting payoff: Pair the shield's melee finishes with its Looting XV bonus to maximize rare drops from any mob you fight.
• Safe blocking: When surrounded, sneak to block while waiting for your throw cooldown to reset.
• Boss fights: The combination of 40 melee damage, massive knockback, and a returning ranged attack makes the shield extremely effective against the Wither and Elder Guardian-tier encounters.
• Off-hand flexibility: Keep it in your off-hand while mining or building — swap it to main hand whenever combat starts to unlock the throw.
