Kingdom Expansion
Quickstart
- Find or create a vanilla village with five or more beds clustered together. Within a minute or two of standing nearby, a kingdom will automatically found itself: stone-brick walls, corner towers, gates, and castles will generate around the settlement, and a fanfare will play with a server-wide announcement.
- Locate one of the new royalty NPCs (King, Queen, Prince, or Princess) inside the castle throne rooms. Hold any item — emeralds, flowers, or food work well — look directly at them, and press G to give a gift.
- After enough gifts to royalty, they will reward you with a Kingdom Interaction Tool. Use it (right-click or use-key) while looking at any villager or royal to see your current friendship score, quest guidance, and your standing in the kingdom ledger.
Overview
Kingdom Expansion transforms ordinary Minecraft villages into full defended settlements complete with perimeter walls, gates, towers, royal castles, throne rooms, iron golem guards, and a cast of unique NPCs. A friendship and quest system lets you build your reputation in the kingdom by gifting items. A smart construction system lets villagers solve their own pathing problems by placing temporary bridges and ramps. And a universal justice system clears all hostility toward you when you die, giving you a fresh start after conflict.
What It Adds
Kingdom Structures
When a cluster of five or more beds is detected, the mod generates:
- Stone-brick perimeter walls with spacing that avoids overlapping other nearby kingdoms
- Corner towers and gates
- Royal castles spaced around the settlement
- Throne rooms with persistent iron golem guards
New NPCs
Eleven custom villager types spawn in and around the kingdom, each with their own unique trades:
| Role | Description |
|---|
| Archaeologist | Trades ancient curiosities |
| Alchemist | Deals in brewing ingredients and equipment |
| Astronomer | Offers spyglasses, clocks, ender pearls, and XP bottles |
| Occultist | Trades dark materials — echo shards, ender eyes, totems |
| Adventurer | Exploration-focused wares |
| Guild Member | General guild goods |
| Guild Master | Higher-tier guild trades |
| King | Rare royal trades including the Mace and Heavy Core |
| Queen | Offers enchanted golden apples and Elytra |
| Prince | Shields, golden carrots, and combat gear |
| Princess | Books, cake, amethyst, and Heart of the Sea |
New Items
| Item | How to Get | Purpose |
|---|
| Kingdom Interaction Tool | Rewarded by royalty after sufficient gifting | Inspects friendship, quests, and hostility ledger |
| Kingdom Expansion Tester | Found in the Tools creative tab | Forces kingdom villager spawning near you (creative/testing tool) |
How To Use
Gifting (G Key)
- Hold any item in your main hand and look directly at a villager or royal NPC.
- Press G (rebindable in Controls → Kingdom Expansion) to give the item as a gift.
- A message confirms how much friendship you gained and your new total.
- The Kingdom Interaction Tool cannot be gifted away.
Kingdom Interaction Tool
- Right-click in the air (or use it while looking at a villager/royal) to inspect your current kingdom standing.
- Displays: the NPC's recognition of you, your friendship rank and score out of 100, your active quest, and your full hostility ledger (player hostility, faction anger, kingdom hostility, karma reset status, justice resolution, and grace time remaining).
- Click directly on a villager by using the tool on them to get NPC-specific information.
Trading
All kingdom NPCs function like standard villagers — right-click to open their trade interface. Each role has a fixed set of trades using emeralds as currency, ranging from common exchanges to rare powerful items at high emerald costs.
Abilities And Mechanics
Friendship and Quests
Friendship is tracked on a 0–100 scale per player. Different items give different amounts of friendship, with royalty requiring rarer and more valuable gifts for the best gains. Good gifts include:
- Common: Poppies, dandelions, orchids, alliums, oxeye daisies, books, cake
- Valuable: Emeralds, food, rare materials
- Royal treasures: Diamonds, gold blocks, and other premium items yield the highest friendship with royalty
As friendship rises, you receive quest guidance messages and unlock better standing:
| Friendship Range | Standing |
|---|
| 0–19 | New / Stranger |
| 20–39 | Helper |
| 40–59 | Trusted |
| 60–79 | Royal Trusted (with royalty) |
| 80–99 | Ally |
| 100 | Royal Ally |
Villager Pathfinding Construction
When a villager gets stuck — blocked by gaps, water, holes, or terrain — they will intelligently place short-lived dirt, oak planks, slabs, or stairs to build bridges, ramps, or steps around the obstacle. These blocks:
- Play a visible placing animation.
- Auto-remove after 5–10 minutes if they are temporary.
- Persist as kingdom infrastructure if they raise the settlement's infrastructure score.
- Villagers will not place blocks on player-built structures.
Universal Justice Reset (Death Clears Hostility)
When you die, the mod treats it as "justice served" and resets all aggression toward you:
- Vanilla villager gossip is cleared.
- Guard and faction hostility is removed.
- Kingdom bounties are dropped.
- Bodhi karma aggression (if present) is neutralized.
After respawning, you receive a 20-second grace window during which villagers, guards, royalty, and other protected entities cannot re-aggro you. The ledger updates to show "Conflict resolved by justice." Escaping a Bodhi punishment realm also triggers this cleanse.
If you try to attack a protected entity during the grace window, you will be blocked and reminded that grace is still active.
Progression And Strategy
- Explore early — locate or settle near a village with 5+ beds and wait for the kingdom to found itself. The fanfare announces it to all players.
- Start gifting common items (flowers, books) to regular villagers to build baseline friendship cheaply.
- Seek out royalty in the throne rooms — gifting royalty unlocks the Kingdom Interaction Tool, which is essential for tracking your progress.
- Upgrade your gifts as friendship grows; the most powerful royal trades (Elytra from Queen, Heavy Core from King) require the highest friendship tiers and valuable materials like gold blocks and diamonds.
- Don't fear conflict — if you anger the village, dying resets all hostility. Use the grace window after respawning to safely retreat or re-approach without triggering guards.
- Watch for villager construction — if you see villagers placing blocks, they are navigating around an obstacle. Blocks that persist become part of the kingdom's infrastructure, organically expanding the settlement over time.
